3. PLAQUES AND CERTIFICATES TO OWNERS - PLANNING
Mrs. Rodriguez announced that the six (6) plaques and certificates for the
last properties designated were ordered and received by Margo Newton. The
Secretary received the bill for payment. Mrs.. Rodriguez also mentioned
that she would liketo have these presented to the homeowner in a special
way. Members concurred with this idea.
Mr.. Gaggstatter moved to have.a special presentation of the Certificates
and Plaques at a Council meeting, seconded by Marty Kern, and passed
unanimously.
It was.then suggested, the homeowner'will keep`the.Certificate, but the

5. MIAMI SHORES THEATRE - DESIGNATION UPDATE
SEE minutes Marty.Rern reported the planned meeting with Mr. Konover, owner of the
1/16/89 Miami_ Shores Theatre, did not take place.. There has been'no po$itive
response from. Mr. Konover, and the feeling :is that he is not interested
in having the property designated a Historic Landmark. Mrs-. Rodriguez
noted the Theatre Committee can now proceed with other funding resources
which may be available.
6. ARTICLES IN VILLAGE HALL NEWS
Mrs. Rodriguez noted that she had madethesuggestion of publishing
information on historically designated properties some time ago. She now
would like to pursue this idea. With -this in..mind, Ahe contacted Mickie
Connolly regardhng publishing something -iii: the Chamber of- Commerce paper,
and was . told- the space could not be spared.. - In here conversation with
Sandy Moredock, she was advised that a space- in :the -Village News could be
allowed about four times a year: The object is to make residents more
knowled4b le about hiistoric•preservation, and.to make designation:interesting
and attractive. Mrs. Rodriguez will.write the first article in January,
highlighting the Thematic Resource Nomination,1988., Subsequent issues
could feature certain locally designated properties. These would be
written by other individuals on the Board. A one-page insert might be
published for the May issue, since Nay is National Preservation Month.
The expense for this insert could be. und.erwfitten.. Discussion took place
on the order that properties -would be highlighted, and means for ,under-
writing cash for the proposed insert.
7. PLANNING. FOR NEW DESIGNATIONS
A copy of the Miami Shores National. Register Properties/Thematic Resource
Nomination, 1988, was presented to each Member by the Chairman. She had
indicated after each listing if it was locally designated or no -local
designation. Further, she announced that since thereis no Staff, and.
Members must do the work, each Board Member will take the name.of a property
with no local designation, and make a. concerted effort to_.interest the
owner in local designation. This work will begin after the letter is
received from Mr. Percy, a press release is taken care of,: and homeowners
have received the National'Nomination plaque. It is hoped.this could start
next month.
