SPECIAL MEETING
April 7, 1986
A special called meeting of the Historic Preservation Board was
held on Monday, April 7, 1986. The meeting was called to order by
Margo Newton, at 7:35 P.M., at the Miami Shores Village Hall. The
following members were present:
Margo Newton, Chairwoman
H. D. Gaggstatter
Vivian Rodriguez
Henry T. Courtney
Absent: Addea Colangelo
1. REQUEST FOR CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS
DANIEL & CLAUDIA AULTON
310 N. E. 99th ST.
This is a landmark home, built in 1926, which has been unaltered
up to this time. Kelhnel & Elliott, original Architect.
The Aultons have already changed out the.existing door openings
by installing wood casement windows, while at the same time keeping the
arch above.
Following discussionregarding the window type and location,
Mr. Courtney moved to approve the Certificate of Appropriateness,
seconded by Mt. Gaggstatter.
Mrs. Rodriguez stated that the work already done, is not in
with the character of the building and room. The general feeling of the
Board, is that it could have been done with more: aens.iizivity.
Mr. Courtney suggested, we encourage owners to follow procedures in the
future.
Mr. Courtney rephrased his motion to approve the Certificate of
Appropriatness, and add communication to the owners that the Board has
reviewed application and strongly recommends that in the future they apply
to the Board before any future changes and alterations are made. Motion
seconded by Mr. Gaggstatter and carried unanimously.
2. DADE HERITAGE TRUST - LETTER
A letter received from Dade Heritage Trust, regarding funding for
the Metro Dade Division of Historic Preservation, was discussed.
Mrs. Rodriguez elaborated on the funding status, and Ms. Newton suggested
Members write letters to Commissioners and make calls.
The meeting adjourned at 8:30 P.M.
