09-19-1983 Regular Meeting (2)• • rJhorefilage F L OR ID A HISTORIC PRESERVATION BOARD SEPTEMBER 19, 1983 A regular meeting of the Historic Preservation Board of Miami Shores Village was held on Monday, September 19, 1983, at 7:30 p,m., at the Village Hall, with the following members present: Marty Stofik, Chairman James A. Dixon, Jr. Ralph Renick Victor D. Griffith 2) MINUTES: Minutes of the meeting of June 20, 1983 and Special Meeting of July 15, 1983 were approved as written by motion made by Mr, Ralph Renick, seconded by Mr. Victor D. Griffith, and carried, 3) RESIGNATION OF MR, C. LAWTON McCALL: Mrs, Stofik noted that the Village Council has accepted with regret the resignation of Mr. McCall from the Historic Preser- vation Board for personal reasons, 4) REVIEW OF STATUS REPORT — 6/21/83 Since this report was distributed to the Board, the Chairman noted that Council approved for designation - 548 Grand Concourse 349 N.E, 93 Street Harrison Residence 1245 N.E, 96 Street Richard Johnson - John Bucki - Nancy J, Flack Updated list will be prepared for the Board. Further noted, was Mrs. Richard Colangelo, 9760 N.E. 5th Avenue Road, called Mrs. Stofik, and advised that the attorney has their abstract and said abstract goes back to the 1800's when the State of Florida purchased the land from the Federal Government. Mrs. Colangelo is tentatively scheduled to come back before our Board on October 3rd. with whatever further information is revealed from examination of the abstract. • • aiami Jhores9illage F L O R I D A - 2 - September 19, 1983 Discussion was held with reference to properties on the Status Report which have not been designated for various reasons. Mr. Dixon felt the Board should reconsider the Pruitt House, home of our first mayor, for historical designation. Mr. Griffith moved that this item be removed from "table", seconded by Mr. Renick. Motion carried unanimously. This item will be placed on the agenda for reconsideration at our next meeting, October 3, 1983, 5) "WISH LIST" The Chairman noted that during the first 12 month the Historic Preservation Board designated 10 properties, we unable to obtain owners consent on 5 others. Discussion was held on the "Wish List" and reference was made to the historic sites inventory completed by the Board on its bus tour of the Village conducted on January 15, 1983. 6) NOMINATION OF PROPERTIES TO BE CONSIDERED FOR LANDMARK DESIGNATION The Chairman requested each member of the Board submit a list Vish List" of properties they would like to be considered for landmark designation. These lists will be culled at our next meeting on October 3rd. 7) STATUS REPORT ON INFORMATION BROCHURE - MR. DIXON Mr. Dixon advised this report is not ready. He hopes to have it prepared by our next meeting. 8) ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN FOR 1983-84 TERM The Board passed over this item as Council has not yet met. 9) COMMENTS, REPORTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS a. LANDMARK PLAQUES The plaques should be received momentarily. b. FLORIDA TRUST FOR HISTORIC PRESERVATION CONF. 9/29-10/2/83 This conference will take place at the Brickell Holiday Inn, Brickell Point, • • iami Jhores-killage F L OR ID A - 3 - Septebmer 19, 1983 c. FLORIDA CONF.OF PRESERVATION BOARDS & COMMISSIONS 9/29/83 This item ties in with item b. This is a new organization being formed called the Florida Conference of Preservation Boards and Commissions. This organization is being formed as a standing committee of the Florida Trust. Following discussion of membership, Mr. Dixon moved that a Board Membership be established from our allocated funds, and Mrs. Stofic, our Chairman, be appointed as our designated member. Motion was seconded by Mr. Renick and carried unan- imously. d. DADE COUNTY COUNCIL OF PRESERVATION BOARDS 10/17/83 The Dade County Council of Preservation Boards is being formed under the auspices of Dade Heritage Trust to exchange ideas, problems, etc. among those of us in Dade County .to try to work together and exchange informa- tion. e. NATIONAL TRUST FOR HISTORIC PRESERVATION CONFERENCE 10/26-10/29/83 .This_ conference will take place at San Antonio and our Chair- man will attend. f. MDCC COURSE ON HISTORIC PRESERVATION - MRS. MATO At the request of our Chairman, Mrs. Mato gave a synopsis of course introduced for the first time at Miami -Dade entitled "Introduction to Historic Preservation".
