BUDGET HEARING — FISCAL YEAR 2011-2012
The Miami Shores Village Council held their second and final Public Hearing on the proposed Fiscal Year
2010-2011 Operating Budget on Tuesday, September 20, 2011. The Meeting was held in the Council
Chambers of Village Hall and was called to order at 6:32 PM with the following Members present:

Barbara Estep, Village Clerk
Richard Sarafan, Village Attorney
Mr. Benton provided a brief summary of the Village's budget information and proposed millage rates. Mr.
Benton indicated that the General Fund Budget is proposed at $12,296,566 and a total budget of $21,897,350,
with millage rates remaining constant at 8.0000 and 0.7855 for the two general obligation bonds.
1) A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL, MIAMI SHORES
VILLAGE, FLORIDA, ESTABLISHING FINAL AD VALOREM TAX LEVIES FOR THE
GENERAL FUND AND OTHER FUNDS OF THE VILLAGE FOR THE FISCAL YEAR
BEGINNING OCTOBER 1, 2011, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
2) A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL, MIAMI
SHORES VILLAGE, FLORIDA, ADOPTING THE FISCAL YEAR 2011-2012
BUDGETS AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
Ms. Estep read the proposed Resolutions into the record. Mayor McCoy opened the floor for the Public
Hearing. Resident Silvio Orozco asked where he could see the budget as he was interested in the lien and tax
revenues. He was advised that the budget was contained on-line or there were copies available to him at the
recording desk. As no one else present wished to speak on either the ad valorem taxes or the proposed budget,
Mayor McCoy closed the Public Hearing.
Vice Mayor Davis then moved to adopt the Resolution establishing the Fiscal Year 2012 final ad valorem tax
levies. Councilman Loffredo seconded the motion. The motion carried by a unanimous vote in favor of the
motion.
Councilman Loffredo moved to adopt the Resolution adopting the Fiscal Year 2012 Budgets as presented.
Vice Mayor Davis seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous in favor of the motion.
Clarification was provided regarding the formula used to calculate the property assessments and roll -back rate
which resulted in the "Notice of Tax Increase" statement which appeared in the published advertisement.
Councilman Loffredo spoke of the two additional police officer positions which have been added through a
successful grant application.
3) ADJOURNMENT
The September 20, 2011 Public Hearing on the Fiscal Year 2011-2012 tax levies and budget was adjourned at
6:50 PM.
