The meeting was called to order at 7:30 PM with the following individuals present: PRESENT: Al Davis Prospero Herrera Herta Holly Steve Loffredo ALSO PRESENT: Tom Benton, Village Manager Barbara Estep, Village Clerk Richard Sarafan, Village Attorney ABSENT: Donald Shockey CONSIDERATIONS 1) VILLAGE CLERK Barbara A. Estep A) APPROVAL OF THE JANUARY 5, 2010 COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES. Mrs. Holly moved approval of the January 5, 2010 Council Meeting Minutes. Mr. Herrera seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous in favor of the motion. 2) VILLAGE COUNCIL Steve Loffredo A) DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING EARTHQUAKE RELIEF TO HAITI. Mr. Loffredo introduced the item regarding the devastating earthquake in Haiti and opened a discussion regarding possible relief efforts by the Village. Individual Council Members expressed their thoughts on Village involvement to lesser or greater degrees. Following these discussions, Mr. Loffredo moved to direct the Village Manager to continue looking into working in conjunction with other municipalities in order to render aid to Haiti and provide a report back to the Council at either the next meeting or the one following the next meeting and to also provide information regarding a potential monetary donation from the Village. Mr. Herrera seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous in favor of the motion. Mr. Herrera suggested that the Village post links on the Village website regarding the various relief agencies. 3) ANNOUNCEMENTS Ms. Estep read the announcements. 4) PUBLIC COMMENTS Residents Mayda Perez, Eddie Lewis and William Wells spoke of the needs of the Haitian community following the earthquake. 5) COUNCIL COMMENTS Council Members followed up on their earlier comments regarding the relief efforts needed for the people of Haiti. Announcements were also made about the upcoming Red & White Ball held by the Optimist Club and the Mayor's Ball held by the Mayor's Community Task Force. 6) ADJOURNMENT The January 19, 2010 Council Meeting was adjourned at 8:20 PM. • Barbara A.
