REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING
The Miami Shores Village Council held their regularly scheduled Council Meeting immediately following the
second and fmal Budget Hearing. The Meeting was called to order at 7:18 PM in the Council Chambers of
Village Hall with the following members present:
PRESENT: Herta Holly
Steve Loffredo
Hunt Davis
Prospero Herrera
JC Rodriguez
ALSO PRESENT: Tom Benton, Village Manager
Barbara Estep, Village Clerk
Richard Sarafan, Village Attorney
CONSIDERATIONS
1) VILLAGE CLERK Barbara A. Estep
A) APPROVAL OF THE SEPTEMBER 4, 2007 BUDGET HEARING AND COUNCIL MEETING
MINUTES.
Mr. Rodriguez moved to adopt the two sets of Minutes as presented. Mr. Herrera seconded the motion and the
vote was unanimous in favor of the motion.
2) POLICE DEPARTMENT Chief Kevin Lystad
A) REQUEST APPROPRIATION AND EXPENDITURE OF FORFEITURE FUNDS NOT TO
EXCEED $17,000 TO PURCHASE EQUIPMENT TO AIDE IN CRIME PREVENTION AND
EVIDENCE COLLECTION .
Chief Lystad provided information on the specific equipment being considered for purchase to aid the
Police Department. Mr. Rodriguez moved to approve the appropriation and expenditure of Forfeiture
Funds in an amount not to exceed $17,000. Mr. Herrera seconded the motion and the vote was
unanimous in favor of the motion.
3) ANNOUNCEMENTS
The Village Clerk read the announcements.
4) PUBLIC COMMENTS
Betty Lasch Ms. Lasch spoke of the programs offered by the North Miami Foundation for Senior Citizen
Services.
5) COUNCIL COMMENTS
JC Rodriguez Mr. Rodriguez offered condolences to the family and colleagues of the recently slain
Miami -Dade Police Officer.
Prospero Herrera Mr. Herrera thanked the Police Department for their efforts on the Village's behalf.
Hunt Davis Mr. Davis thanked the staff for their work on the budget and reminded everyone about
the Board vacancies.
Steve Loffredo Mr. Loffredo spoke about the need to educate the public regarding the January vote on
the Save our Homes vs. the Super Homestead Exemption issue.
Herta Holly Mayor Holly spoke of the importance of volunteerism.
6) ADJOURNMENT
The Regular Council Meeting of Tuesday, September 18, 2007 was adjourned at 7:27 PM.
