MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE
REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING
The regularly scheduled meeting of the Village Council was held on Tuesday, November 20, 2001 at the
Village Hall commencing at 7:30 PM with the following members present:
PRESENT: Mayor Al Davis
Greg Ullman
Bob Blum
Prospero Herrera
Mark Ulmer
ALSO PRESENT: Tom Benton, Village Manager
Barbara Fugazzi, Village Clerk
Richard Sarafan, Village Attorney
PRESENTATIONS
Lt. Kevin Lystad of the Miami Shores Police Department showed a video in reference to the September
11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
• Ms. Candy Rengstl present awards to the winners of the Citizen's Stand Against Crime Night Out block
parties.

CONSIDERATIONS
1) CONSENT AGENDA Barbara Fugazzi
A) APPROVAL OF THE NOVEMBER 6, 2001 COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES.
B) RATIFICATION OF THE POLICE BENEVOLENT ASSOCIATION'S UNION
CONTRACT.
Mr. Ullman moved approval of the Consent Agenda. Mr. Herrera seconded the motion and the vote was
unanimous in favor.
2) VILLAGE MANAGER Tom Benton
A) DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING SETTING THE DATE FOR
THE FIRST COUNCIL MEETING IN JANUARY, 2002 FOR WEDNESDAY,
JANUARY 2, 2002.
Mayor Davis asked the Council Members if they had any objections with the proposed date. As no one
had any difficulties with the rescheduling, Mr. Blum moved to reschedule the first Council Meeting in
January to Wednesday, January 2, 2002. Mr. Herrera seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous
in favor.
3) ANNOUNCEMENTS
• The Clerk read the announcements.
4) PUBLIC COMMENTS
Terry Bellemy Mr. Bellemy spoke about the Shores Performing Arts Theater.

Candy Rengstl Ms. Rengstl spoke about the Theater and about the buzzing in the audio when
the Council Meetings are replayed.
Martin Drummond Reverend Drummond spoke about how nice the community is, having just
moved from the Port St. Lucie area.
5) COUNCIL COMMENTS
Prospero Herrera Mr. Herrera wished everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.
Greg Ullman
Mr. Ullman congratulated Publix on the opening of their new store, and to Mr.
Benton for his work in getting the application for the charter high school passed.
Mr. Ullman also wished everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.
Bob Blum Mr. Blum stated that it was nice to have Publix back, wished everyone a Happy
Thanksgiving, and urged everyone to fly their flags.
Mark Ulmer Mr. Ulmer wished everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.
Mayor Davis Mayor Davis advised everyone to have the "Best Turkey Day".
6) ADJOURNMENT
The November 20, 2001 Council Meeting was adjourned at 7:55 PM.
