MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE
REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING
The Miami Shores Village Council held its regular Council Meeting on Tuesday, September 18, 2001 at
the Village Hall, commencing at 7:30 PM with the following members present:

Mayor Davis
Greg Ullman
Bob Blum
Prospero Herrera
ALSO PRESENT: Tom Benton, Village Manager
Barbara Fugazzi, Village Clerk
Richard Sarafan, Village Attorney
ABSENT: Mark Ulmer
CONSIDERATIONS
1) CONSENT AGENDA Barbara A. Fugazzi
• A) APPROVAL OF THE SEPTEMBER 4, 2001 COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES.

B) A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL, MIAMI SHORES
VILLAGE, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE REQUEST FOR FUNDING OF
CRIMINAL JUSTICE PROGRAMS, ADMINISTERED BY THE UNITED STATES
DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE - BUREAU OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE "LOCAL LAW
ENFORCEMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM".
The Clerk read the items contained on the Consent Agenda. Mr. Blum moved approval of the Consent
Agenda. Mr. Herrera seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous in favor.
The Clerk announced that at the conclusion of the September 13th Public Hearing, it had been the
consensus of the Council to conduct a Council Workshop on the evening of the 18t. Mr. Blum moved to
recess the Council Meeting and hold a Council Workshop. The regular Council Meeting will be
reconvened at the conclusion of the Workshop. Mr. Herrera seconded the motion and the vote was
unanimous in favor.
The regular Council Meeting was recessed at 7:33 PM and reconvened at 9:35 PM.
2) VILLAGE COUNCIL
A) DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING THE VILLAGE
SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION FOR A CHARTER HIGH SCHOOL.

Based on the discussions and comments made during the Council Workshop, Mr. Blum moved that the
Village commit to submitting an application for a municipally sponsored charter high school by October
1, 2001 for opening in September, 2003. Mr. Herrera seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous
in favor.
3) ANNOUNCEMENTS
The Clerk read the announcements.
4) PUBLIC COMMENTS
There was no one present who wished to speak during the Public Comment segment.
5) COUNCIL COMMENTS
Greg Ullman Mr. Ullman indicated that he was impressed by the resident's comments made
during both the Public Hearing and the Council Workshop.
Prospero Herrera Mr. Herrera thanked the public for their attendance.
Bob Blum "Ditto" and advised people to fly their flags.
Mayor Davis Mayor Davis spoke of the groundbreaking for the Library addition, wished those
of the Jewish faith a Happy New Year, and "God Bless America".
6) ADJOURNMENT
The regular Council Meeting of Tuesday, September 18, 2001 was adjourned at 9:40 PM.
