MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE
BUDGET HEARING - FISCAL YEAR 2001-2002
The Miami Shores Village Council held the first of two Public Hearings on the Fiscal Year 2001-2002
Budget and Millage Rate, on Tuesday, September 4, 2001, at 7:00 PM in the Village Hall with the
following members present:

Prospero Herrera
Mark Ulmer
ALSO PRESENT: Tom Benton, Village Manager
Barbara Fugazzi, Village Clerk
Mark Malatak, Finance Director
1. PRESENTATION AND DISCUSSION OF PROPOSED BUDGET AND PROPOSED
MILLAGE RATE (8.0000 + 0.5151) FOR OPERATING AND DEBT SERVICE
RESPECTIVELY.
Mr. Malatak provided the Council and those in attendance with highlights from the proposed budget
document, including the proposed millage rates.
2. A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE, FLORIDA, VILLAGE COUNCIL
ESTABLISHING TENTATIVE AD VALOREM TAX LEVIES FOR GENERAL OPERATING
AND VOTER -APPROVED DEBT SERVICE PURPOSES FOR THE FISCAL YEAR
BEGINNING OCTOBER 1, 2001; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
The Clerk read the caption of the Resolution. Mr. Blum moved to adopt the Resolution. Mr. Herrera
seconded the motion. Mayor Davis opened the floor for Public Comment and as no one wished to
comment, he called for the vote which was unanimous in favor.
3. A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE, FLORIDA, VILLAGE COUNCIL
TENTATIVELY ADOPTING THE FISCAL YEAR 2001-2002 OPERATING AND DEBT
SERVICE BUDGETS; SETTING THE TIME, DATE, AND PLACE OF THE SECOND OF
TWO PUBLIC HEARINGS TO DISCUSS THE AD VALOREM TAX LEVIES AND
CORRESPONDING BUDGETS; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
The Clerk read the caption of the Resolution. Mr. Blum moved to adopt the Resolution. Mr. Herrera
seconded the motion. Mayor Davis opened the floor for Public Comment.
Alice Burch Ms. Burch asked about the State funding for bay clean-up. Mr. Benton responded that
those funds had not yet been received and were not included in the projected revenues.

As no one else from the audience wished to comment on the proposed budget, Mayor Davis closed
Public Comment and called for a vote which was unanimous in favor.
4. ADJOURNMENT
Mr. Ulmer moved to adjourn the Budget Hearing and recess until 7:30 PM at which time the Regularly
Scheduled Council Meeting could begin. Mr. Herrera seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous
in favor. The Public Hearing was adjourned at 7:12 PM.
