03-02-1999 Regular Meeting• • 4401 MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING The regularly scheduled meeting of the Village Council was held on Tuesday, March 2, 1999 at the Village Hall and commencing at 7:30 PM. The following members were present: PRESENT: Mayor Agosta Louis Imburgia Stephen Loffredo Cesar Sastre Herb Spahn ALSO PRESENT: Tom Benton, Village Manager Barbara Fugazzi, Village Clerk Richard Sarafan, Village Attorney PRESENTATION Mayor Agosta presented a plaque to Robert Dixon, a 30 year employee of Miami Shores Village on the occasion of his retirement. CONSIDERATIONS 1. CONSENT AGENDA A. APPROVAL OF THE FEBRUARY 16, 1999 REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES. B. APPROVAL OF THE 1999 COUNCIL ELECTION BOARD. Mr. Spahn moved approval of the Consent Agenda. Mr. Imburgia seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous in favor. 2. VILLAGE MANAGER Tom Benton A. DISCUSSION REGARDING FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION'S PROPOSED IMPROVEMENT PROJECT FOR 103' STREET. Councilman Sastre arrived at this time. Mr. Benton offered background information on the item, including highlights from the report received from the FDOT. He indicated that he is looking for a consensus from the Council to move forward with the planning stages and to work together with FDOT, which involves conducting a traffic study and hosting public informational meetings. Mr. Benton confirmed that the latest information received from FDOT still indicates that a traffic light at N.W. 2nd Avenue and 103rd Street is unwarranted but that the Village Administration continues to work towards the • installation of a traffic light at this intersection. Discussion regarding particular items within the FDOT report ensued. It was the consensus of the Council to have Mr. Benton proceed with cooperative efforts between the Village and FDOT. 3. ANNOUNCEMENTS The Clerk read the announcements. 4. PUBLIC COMMENTS Javier Reynaldos Mr. Reynaldos announced a meeting of the Residents Association on March 21, 1999 at 4:00 to take place at 246 N.E. 92' Street. The meeting will provide the opportunity to meet with the Council candidates. 5. COUNCIL COMMENTS Steve Loffredo No comment. Cesar Sastre No comment. Louis Imburgia Mr. Imburgia indicated that Mr. Alberto Pozzi's mother had recently passed away in Uruguay. Mayor Agosta stated that a Mass is being planned for the near future. Herb Spahn No comment. Mayor Agosta Mayor Agosta thanked everyone for their participation in the recent 5K walk/run which raised $1,250 in donations. The funds will go to Radio Lollipop which is the in-house radio station at the Miami Children's Hospital. 6. ADJOURNMENT The March 2, 1999 Council Meeting was adjourned at 7:45 PM. Barbara A.
