Dear Mr, McCall: I submitted plans for my new home for the approval of the Planning Board at their last meeting, and same was rejected for reason of an outside entrance to a bed room, I was not present as I was not requested, I am writing to appeal the decision of the Planning Board on the following grounds: 1. That I did submit preliminary drawings to the Building Inspector for approval by the Planning Board at their meeting on November 10th instant, and these drawings were the exact copy of the original preliminary drawing in detail. 2. I was advised by the Building Inspector at the time I picked up the preliminary drawings from his office, that the drawings were approved, and for me to bring in final drawings when completed. Final drawings were de- livered to him last Saturday, 3...That the final drawings were made after the Building In- spector personally told me that the preliminary drawing was approved and it was 0, K, to go ahead with final draw- ings and specifications, and the preliminary drawings did show outside entrance to one bed room, 4. That these plans do not have a hall to enter the bed room that has outside entrance, and it can be entered only thru another bed room if outside entrance is closed, and my ar- chitect advises to correct this condition, it is necessary to make a new drawing, and he will have to charge me the regular fee of #150.00: I will have to wait another 30 days for the new plans, Further, I have my contractor ready and, he has his materials for the job, and as I am anxious to get my new home before the season is so I may sell my old house, These are the facts in the case. The decision of the Board in my case is unfair, I have endeavored to cooperate the Builders Inspectors Office and the Planning Board, and did submit prelim- inary drawings and house lay -out, and I was told and assured they were 0, K., and these preliminary drawings did show outside en- trance to one bed room, The Building Inspector told me that one outside entrance to bed room was permissable and allowed, On the basis of this information, I advised my architect to make up final drawings and specifications. If it is necessary for me to have a- nother set of drawings made on account of change of mind of the Planning Board that no outside entrance to a bed room will be allow- ed, and their decision made on the spur of the moment without any notice whatsoever to those who had submitted preliminary drawings and approved, without giving them a chance or any rights, or any con- sideration of the expense to them, it will not only cause me to have to wait at least thirty more days to get new drawings, but it will cost me another $150,00 for them, and possibly cause me to lose sale of my present home until another season and at a much lower price. It is not practical to build a 3 bedroom house with 2 baths at the present day prices, without having entrance to each bed room without going thru another,.,bed room. These rejected plans, on account of one outside entrance',nnot be juggled around to plan a practical and cool home as they now are. Summing the facts up in my case and as I have recited them here, I feel I should be given fair treatment by the Planning Board by the approval of my plans by them (rejected on account of outside entrance to one bed room). I am delivering this letter in person, and I have the plans with me and will be happy to talk withrand explain them in detail.
