commencing at 7:00 p.m. with the following members present:
Also present

Marty Stofik
Elly F. Johnson, Village Manager
William F. Fann, Jr., Village Attorney
Robert Toski, Golf Course Superintendent
Mayor Canton asked for an update on the progress of the
Country Club golf course. Mr. Johnson commented that
additional seed and fertilizer had been put on the course and
the Superintendent was proceeding with the irrigation repair.
Mr. Toski stated the basic problem was getting water on
the course. This has been done manually. Progress has been
made this month compared to last month, the greens are coming
around and tees have been overseeded. A problem still exits
with weeds and the irrigation system. The irrigation system,
however, should be working •in the next 2-3 weeks. Plans for
this month Include fine tuning the course, mowing, and
cleaning up for the tournament in the next two weeks.
Getting parts for repair has Impeded the use of one truckster
and one mower.
Upon inquiry from Mrs. Stofik, he explained two pieces
of equipment scheduled for purchase are a vacuum and an airl-
fier/tractor combination. The airifier won't be needed until
spring but the vacuum Is needed now. Problem equipment is
not scheduled for replacement.
Upon inquiry from Mr. Loffredo, he commented about 15%
of the sprinkler valves have not been found. It will take a
month to get the system In good working order. A fertilizer
program Is underway and 2 pieces of equipment are used in
cutting greens daily, cleaning up passes Is done every other
day, and the mowers move the cups every day. He estimated
the greens would be In good shape by the fall of this year.
At this point in the meeting due the Increase In aud-
ience, Mayor Canton stated an alternate location would be
Investigated for the Regular Council Meeting.
Upon inquiry from Mr. Loffredo, Mr. Toski advised that
the 3 greens (*1, *5, and *9) rebuilt last year are hard. He
commented that It would be prudent to table the rebuilding of
6 greens scheduled for this year until next year.
Under public comments, Dale Peck, 1230 N.E. 130th St.,
stated the course Is dry, trees are being cut down, the *7
and *1 tees are In poor condition, and greens are not mowed
everyday.
Mr. Toskl responded that most of the trees cut down were
dead. The only days greens are not mowed Is when the weather
has been very cold. Tee markers and cups are scheduled for
change everyday and sand Is In buckets. He will have his
assistant check dally on these to ensure that they are done.
Upon inquiry from Mr. Loffredo, Mr. Toski responded that
It would help to close *3 tee and *17 tee for the next 2
weeks In preparation for the tournament. He plans to rope
off some areas that are dry. Cart paths should help this
problem In the future.
Mr. Loffredo proposed making progress at the golf
course an agenda Item for the first meeting In March.
Mr. Toskl asked the Council to consider closing the
course on the slowest day of the week during the off season
In order to undertake chemical applications and to airify.
The meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
