07-24-1986 Budget Workshop MeetingBUDGET WORKSHOP MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL July 24, 1986 This budget workshop was scheduled for Thursday, July 24, 1986, commencing at 7:30 p.m. to review the Country Club budget. In attendance: Mayor Karen Kirby Robert S. Butler, Jr. Kevin P. O'Connor Elspeth Jensen Marty Stofik Also present: Village Manager, Members of the Village Staff and Interested Citizens Mr. Forney recommended that the Council review the items in his memorandum. He would then translate their views into dues resolution by August 5. At that time he will recommend someone to manage the publicity campaign. This budget is based on a 25% increase in membership or 250 more members so the figures are based on presumptions of projected revenue. The first item was discussion on reducing non-resident golf dues by $200. Dr. Butler made a motion that the dues structure stay the same. Mayor Kirby seconded and the motion was passed on a 4/1 vote with Mr. O'Connor dissenting. The second issue was the $200 minimum. Mrs. Jensen made a motion to abolish the $200 minimum. Mrs. Stofik seconded and the motion was passed on a 3/2 vote with Dr. Butler and Mr. O'Connor dissenting. Dr. Butler made a motion that there would be no split payments for membership dues. Mrs. Jensen seconded and the motion was approved unanimously. On the shortfall of operating revenue to meet note payments since 1981, Mayor Kirby made a motion to transfer the funds from the Electric Franchise monies as required by the note covenants. Dr. Butler seconded and the motion was passed by unanimous vote. COUNTRY CLUB ADMINISTRATION Mr. O'Connor made a motion to approve the Administration budget. Dr. Butler seconded and the budget was approved on a 4/1 voile with Mayor Kirby dissenting. OPERATIONS Mr. O'Connor made a motion to approve. Dr. Butler seconded and the budget was passed unanimously. 2 BAR Mr. O'Connor moved to approve. Dr. Butler seconded and the budget was unanimously approved. DINING ROOM Mr. O'Connor moved to approve. Dr. Butler seconded and the budget was unanimously approved. GOLF Mr. O'Connor moved to approve the budget. Mrs. Stofik seconded and the budget was unanimously approved. LOCKER ROOM Mr. O'Connor made a motion to approve. Dr. Butler seconded and the budget was unanimously approved. GOLF COURSE MAINTENANCE Mr. O'Connor moved to approve the budget. Dr. Butler seconded and the budget was unanimously approved. Mr. Forney mentioned change in funded capital items to delete the riding rotary mower and put in a 300 gallon sprayer rig at $4,600 making the total $76,100. TENNIS Mrs. Stofik moved to approve the budget. Dr. Butler seconded and the budget was unanimously approved. Mayor Kirby reviewed the major actions taken: No reduction in non-resident golf dues, no assessment, no split payments on membership dues and the transfer of funds as approved.
