09-05-1985 Budget HearingBUDGET HEARING MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL September 5, 1985 The first public hearing on the proposed budget for the fiscal year 1985-86, as advertised, was held on September 5, 1985, 7:30p.m. at the Miami Shores Community Center. The following members of Council were pres- ent: Mayor Karen Kirby Robert S. Butler, Jr. Kevin P. O'Connor Elspeth Jensen Marty Stofik Also Present: L.R. Forney, Jr., Village Manager William F. Fann, Jr., Village Attorney Department Heads: Police Chief Fletcher, Tom Benton, J.D. Varney, Gail Macdonald, Tom Herron, and Elizabeth Esper. Approximately 20 interested citizens Mayor Kirby called the meeting to order by announcing that the purpose of this public hearing was to consider the tentative budget of the Village for fiscal year 1985-86. Mr. Forney presented the highlights of the general fund budget totaling $5,017,262.00 by covering the estimated revenue by categories and expenditures by department for the upcoming fiscal year. The proposed millage rate was 7.17. A vote was called for the proposed millage and Dr. Butler moved to adopt the tentative millage of 7.17. The motion was seconded by Mrs. Stofik. Dis- cussion followedconcerning the Library budget. Mr. O'Connor called the question on the 7.17 proposed millage and the motion passed unanimously. A motion was made by Mr. O'Connor to adopt the tentative general fund budget for the 1985-86 fiscal year, seconded by Dr. Butler and passed unani- mously. Mr. Forney summarized the Country Club budget of $2,390,195.00 by discussing estimated revenues, proposed capital improvements, and projected expenditures. Discussion on the tentative Country Club budget followed in regard to the dining room fee, the new Golf Pro contract, and redecorating the interior of the Country Club. The tentative Country Club budget passed on a 4/1 vote with Mrs. Stofik dissenting. ADJOURNMENT: 8:30p.m. ATTEST: L.R.
