07-30-1985 Budget Workshop MeetingBUDGET WORKSHOP MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL July 30, 1985 7:OOp.m. In attendance: Mayor Karen 'Kirby Robert S. Butler, Jr. Kevin P. O'Connor Elspeth Jensen Marty Stofik 7/30/85 Also: Village Manager, Country Club Staff and Interested Citizens This budget workshop commenced at Village Hall on Tuesday, July 30, 1985 at 7:10p.m. Due to the large turnout of residents attending the meeting, Mr. O'Connor moved to adjourn for fifteen minutes to give everyone enough time to get to the Community Center so they could be heard. Mrs. Stofik seconded the motion and passed unanimously. The meeting reconvened at 7:30p.m. In a report to Council, Mr. Forney outlined the Miami Shores Country Club Budget for FY '86 as recommended by the Country Club Advisory Board. It was suggested that Council address the following revenue items: (1) The proposal to increase the membership dues 20% across the board. (2) A minimum spending requirement of $200 on all members to be used in the dining room. (3) Increased fees for use of the golf course by General Members. Mayor Kirby opened the floor for public comments. Mrs. Stofik moved the following increases in fees: General Membership Tennis Golf Golf & Tennis Social Non -Resident Junior Golf Junior Tennis Business & Professional -General Business & Professional -Special Corporate Member Mr. O'Connor seconded the motion. $50.00 -per $100.00 -per $100.00 -per $100.00 -per $50.00 -per $100.00 -per $100.00 -per $50.00 -per $100.00 -per $250.00 -per membership membership membership membership membership membership membership membershi p membershi p membership On a 3/2 vote, the motion to increase the General Membership by $50 to $200 passed with Mayor Kirby and Mrs. Jensen dissenting. All other pro- posed increases were agreed to by a consensus, except the Junior Golf and Junior Tennis memberships which will remain the same as last year. 7/30/85 BUDGET WORKSHOP -2- The $200.00 minimum spending for all memberships was agreed to by consensus. Dr. Butler moved to increase the greens fees to $25.00 to all guests other than guests of golfing members and for general members, seconded by Mrs. Jensen. The motion passed on 4/1 vote, with Mrs. Stofik dissenting. Council agreedto approve the increase in cart fees to $20.00 for all guests except those of golfing members, cart and greens fees to remain the same as last year for all golfing members and their guests except that summer greens fees were increased to $12.00 across the board. Mrs. Stofik did not agree with the proposal. The expenditure portion of the budget will be discussed at 7:OOp.m., Wednesday, July 31, 1985 in Village Hall. The meeting adjourned at 10:45p.m. L.R.
