09-06-1984 Budget HearingBUDGET HEARING MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL September 6, 1984 The first public hearing on the proposed budget for the fiscal year 1984-85, as advertised, was held on September 6, 1984, 7:30 p.m. at the Miami Shores Community Center. The following members of Council were present: Mayor Kevin O'Connor Elspeth Jensen Herbert Spahn, Jr. Terry Cuson Absent: Robert J. Lodge Also present: L. R. Forney, Jr., Village Manager William F. Fann, Jr., Village Attorney Department Heads: Police Chief Fletcher, Tom Benton, J. D. Varney, Gail Macdonald, Tom Herron and Elizabeth Esper Approximately 12 people, residents and press, were in attendance The meeting was opened by Mayor O'Connor who announced that this is a public hearing to consider the tentative general fund budget for the fiscal year 1984-85, the tentative millage rate, the Federal Revenue Sharing budget and the proposed Country Club budget. Mr. Forney then presented charts showing the tax dollar with percentage costs by departments and miscellaneous operating costs. He also presented a comparison of the tax dollar over a number of years and a chart showing a per capita tax bill based on a population of 9150. The proposed millage rate of $7.17 was a:7.9 increase over the' rollback millage of 6.64. 9/6/84 A vote was called for the proposed millage and Mr. Cuson moved that the Council adopt a tentative millage of 7.17. The motion was seconded by Mr. Spahn and passed unanimously with reluctance on the part of Mrs. Jensen. The tentative general fund budget was then approved by motion made by Mr. Cuson, seconded by r. Spahn and passed unanimously. Questions on the Country Club budget were in regard to a fee for walkers on the course and some of the proposed capital improvement items. This was concluded by a motion made by Mr. Cuson to adopt the Country Club budget. The motion was seconded by Mrs. Jensen and passed unanimously. BUDGET HEARING -2- Federal Revenue Sharing budget - 1984-95 ... $44,208.00. Mr. Cuson moved that we adopt the proposed revenue sharing budget for the fiscal year 1985.
