09-22-1981 Final Budget HearingFINAL BUDGET HEARING MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL September 22, 1981 A special meeting of the Village Council was held on September 22, 1981, at the Miami Shores Community Center, 7:30 p.m., for the purpose of holding the final hearing on the 1981-82 budget, as prescribed by law. The following Councilmembers were present: Mayor Robert J. Lodge Herbert Spahn, Jr. Donald W. McIntosh Henry A. Everett Elspeth Jensen Absent: None Mr. 0. Sam Ackley, Village Manager, and Mr. William F. Fann, Jr., Village Attorney, were also present, as well as six citizens. Mayor Lodge opened the meeting and explained that the proposed millage rate of 6.07 would increase the Village taxes by approximately 5%. As there were no comments from the floor Mayor Lodge asked that the resolution be read establishing this rate. Mr. Everett then moved that the resolution setting the 1981 rate rate at 6.07 be adopted as read. The motion was seconded by Mr. Spahn and the following titled resolution was unanimously passed and adopted: RESOLUTION NO. 719-81 A RESOLUTION FIXING THE 1981 TAX LEVY OF MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE The ordinance to adopt the 1981-82 budget was then read and moved for approval by Mrs. Jensen and seconded by Mr. Everett. In discussion Mr. McIntosh asked the Council to give consideration to increasing the contingency allocation, which he felt was too small, by reducing the fund balance. It was agreed to add $50,000.00 to the Contingency Fund. Mr. 9/22/81 -2- McIntosh moved that the amended budget be approved. The motion was seconded by. Mr. Spahn and unanimously carried, said ordinance being entitled: ORDINANCE NO. 432-81 AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE ANNUAL BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING OCTOBER 1, 1981.
