Councilman Herbert Spahn
Councilman Ralph Bowen
Councilman Donald W. McIntosh (at 7:30 p.m.)
Village Manager 0. Sam Ackley
Village Attorney Wm. Fann (at 7:30 p.m.)
At 7:15 p.m. the Mayor called the meeting to order stating that the
meeting would be an informal discussion regarding the Club.
Councilmen Lodge and Bowen made brief statements about the Club. Mr.
Ackley stated the Council 's position in operating the Club which is approval of
the budget and awarding competitive bids and changes in the adopted budget. The
Village Manager is responsible for the operation of the Club with. assistance of
the Club Manager and Advisory Committees.
Mr. Zavitz, Club Manager, gave a brief statement regarding meals served
and memberships and some information on the construction at the Club.
Joe Lodge of the Club Advisory Committee suggested the .following as
means of increasing income at the Club:
-- Use five acres at north of Club for driving range which would be
open to the public.
-- Reduce size of bar, set up piano bar and dance floor.
-- Improve decor on patio.
-- Install new carpeting in the Shores Room.
-- Install grill in the Snack Shack.
-- Utilize the Men's Lounge for functions.
-- Tighten controls at the Club in all areas.
-- Lower expenses.
-- Impose a one-time assessment fee to repair club on all members.
-- Impose a mandatory monthly charge of $25.00 for members who have
not spent this amount for food, beverage or social functions.
Mr. Ackley informed Council that he had no recommendations on the
proposals of the Advisory Committee because the Committee had not presented them
to Mr. Ackley prior to the meeting nor had they discussed the ideas with him.
The Council suggested that the Advisory Committee cost out their
recommendations and return them to Mr. Ackley to be included in the upcoming budget.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:15 p.m.
