09-11-1979 Workshop Meeting WORK SHOP MEETING MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL September 11, 1979 A work shop meeting of the Miami Shores Village Council was held at the Village Hall , on Tuesday, September 11, 1979, with the following Councilmen present: Mayor Henry A. Everett Donald W. McIntosh Ralph E. Bowen Herbert Spahn, Jr. Absent: None (vacancy on Council) Mr. 0. Sam Ackley, Village Manager, and Mr. William F. Fann, Jr. , Village Attorney, were also present. Open bids for fertilizer for golf course. Bids for ten (10) tons of fertilizer for the golf course were opened and recorded as follows: W. R. GRACE & CO. $1,440.00 P. 0. Box 1210 - Ft. Pierce, Fla. 33450 FLA. EAST COAST FERTILIZER $1,584.48 P. 0. Drawer 8 Homestead, Fla. 33030 Bids will be tabulated and a recommendation made at the next regular Council meeting. Mr. Ackley requested approval to purchase bar and dinner checks on bid with a bid opening prior to a Council meeting. The Village Attorney and Council agreed to .this procedure. Review of applicants for Council vacancy. The following applicants were interviewed: 1. BARRY K. ASMUS 515 N. E. 101st Street 2. ELSPETH JENSEN 2 N. W. 111th Street Mayor Everett acknowledged receipt of the petitions and 9/11/79 -2- letters submitted on behalf of Mrs. Jensen. 3. ROBERT J. LODGE 533 N. E. 92nd Street 4. J. ROBERT STOBS, II 55 N. E. 97th Street 5. ARTHUR H. TAYLOR 26 N. E. 108th Street Following the interviews Mr. McIntosh suggested voting on these applicants at a definite meeting time when all four members of Council -will be present. The following meetings were announced: Monday, September 17th - discussion of utility tax. Tuesday, September 18th - regular Council meeting Thursday, September 20th - special Council meeting. Chief Fletcher announced that the Police Chiefs dinner would be held at Miami Shores Country Club on September 27th, at 6:30 p.m. All members of the Council are invited. Report on Country Club roof. Mr. Ackley stated that the roof, air conditioning and other required work will- cost approximately $130,000.00, that at the meeting of September 18th he would be able to report what should be done on the roof to stop the leaks, with a time schedule on construction and methods of financing.
