07-26-1979 Special Meeting SPECIAL MEETING
MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL
July 26, 1979
A special meeting of the Miami Shores Village Council was held on
July 26, 1979, 4:00 p.m. , at the Village Hall , with the following Councilmen
present:
Mayor Henry A. Everett
Donald W. McIntosh
Joseph P. Farina (arrived late)
Ralph E. Bowen
Herbert Spahn, Jr.
Mr. 0. Sam Ackley, Village Manager, was also present.
This meeting was called on recommendation of the Village Manager to
expedite the purchase of one or two garbage trucks as discussed at the last
Council meeting, following a bid opening on 7/3/79.
The two bids under consideration were the Ford ($36,723) and the
International ($36,840) , and the fuel consumption report was the same for both
units, - from 4 to 7 m.p.h. Mr. Ackley stated that Tally Embry Ford had not
met specifications with their tires and, therefore, he was changing his
recommendation to the International Harvester, and requesting, further, that
a second unit be ordered for delivery after October 1st.
In the discussion that followed a preference was made by the Public
Works personnel for a Ford with additional money allocated for the better tires.
Mr. Bowen moved that the bid of Tally Embry Ford be accepted as submitted for
one garbage truck at a cost of $36,723.00, to be paid out of the current budget.
The motion was seconded by Mr. Spahn and passed unanimously.
Mr. Spahn then moved that a second vehicle be ordered from Tally Embry
Ford, as per Mr. Ackley's request, to be paid from the CIF funds and billed
subsequent to October 1st, with consideration for replacement to be made in the
7/26/79
