08-22-1978 Special MeetingSPECIAL MEETING MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL August 22, 1978 A special meeting of the Village Council was called for 7:30 p.m., August 22, 1978, at the Village Hall, for the purpose of opening sealed bids on leasing the Country Club. The following Council members were present: Mayor Joseph P. Farina Ralph E. Bowen W. Alfred Davis Mrs. Elspeth Jensen Absent: Donald W. McIntosh Mr. 0. Sam Ackley, Village Manager, and Mr. William F. Fann, Jr., Village Attorney were also present. Bids on the leasing of the Country Club were received and opened as follows: AHERN OF FLORIDA, INC. P. 0. Box 530705 Miami Shores, Florida 33153 JERRY'S CATERERS, INC. 2081 Weatherford Blvd. Miami, Fla. 33159 Negotiate a management contract for one year. For management under Lease and Concession Agreement, of all Country Club operations, 11% of gross receipts with minimum guarantee of $8,000.00 mo. Mayor Farina announced that the Village Manager would review these bids in conjunction with the bid specifications for a report at the meeting of September 5, 1978. Mr. Davis moved that the bids be referred to the Village Manager as stated. The motion was seconded by Mrs. Jensen but failed to pass on a tie vote. After some discussion of time limit on acceptance of the bid and the holding of $50,000.00 performance bond, Mr. Davis moved that the $50,000.00 be returned to Jerry's Caterers, and that both bidders be advised that the -2 - proposals are being rejected. The motion was seconded by Mrs. Jensen and passed 3/1 with Mayor Farina dissenting. Mrs. Jensen requested that a work shop be held on September 5th to review the budget.
