MEETING OF VILLAGE COUNCIL WITH LABOR NEGOTIATOR
Wednesday, June 29, 1977
7:00 p.m. in the Manager's office.
In attendance: Mayor Joseph Farina, Council members Bowen,
McIntosh, Davis and Jensen.
Labor Negotiator Richard Gross
Village Manager Andersen
Village Attorney Fann
Chief of Police Fletcher
Mr. Gross presented a list of contract proposals received from the Federation
of Public Employees.
The first business was a discussion of the P. B. A. contract, originally
scheduled for a meeting on June 21st.
Mr. Gross stated that he had agreed on insurance benefits, clothing allowance
and annual physical examinations. The P. B. A. wanted a provision that the
Pension Board talk with the P. B. A. concerning benefits under the Pension Plan.
It was the consensus of those present that the pension should not be in cluded
in the contract.
Mr. Gross stressed the importance of good labor relations. He discussed
physical examinations and pointed out that there are no physical standards in
the contract. Concerning physical agility, Mr. Gross did not think it should
be included in the contract.
Regarding salaries - the P. B.A. wants 10% across the Board increase. Mr.
Gross recommended adding another step in the pay plan, making it six steps
instead of five, at a total cost of $2540. 00, with a smaller across the board
increase.
