for 5:00 p.m. , March 24, 1977, at the Village Hall, with the following Council-
men present:
Mayor Donald W. McIntosh
W. Alfred Davis
Dean R. Claussen
James W. Condit
Jon E. McLeod
Mr. Earl K. Andersen, Village Manager, Mr. William F. Fann, Jr. ,

This meeting was called for the purpose of taking action on items
requiring immediate attention:
Swimming pool alterations - Mr. Andersen presented a revised contract
from Green's Pool Service, in the amount of $27, 800. 00, and reported that we
now have the permit and approved plans to do the work. Mr. Davis moved that
the Village Manager be instructed to sign a contract with Green's Pool Service
for the work to be done as outlined in the Village Manager's report of March 21,
1977, with the total expenditure not to exceed $44, 000. 00. The motion was
seconded by Mr. McLeod and passed 4/1 with Mr. Claussen dissenting, as he
felt the Village could do more of the work to save money.
Budget transfer authorization.
Mr. Andersen reported that a request had been made by the Police
Department to transfer $347. 00 from Code 9-B-10 to 9-C-9, Public Safety

reported that he has a qualified man for this assignment and that others will be
qualified on their own time. Mr. Condit moved that this transfer of funds be
approved. The motion was seconded by Mr. McLeod and carried unanimously.
Agreement for sale of personal and chattel property by
auction.
Mr. Andersen reported that our efforts to negotiate with Dade County
for an auctioneer ran into difficulty and we are now resorting to a
private auctioneer whose contract has been approved by the Village Attorney.
Mr. Andersen recommended Council approval to hire this auctioneer. Mr. Davis
moved that the Council accept the Manager's recommendation. The motion was
seconded by Mr. McLeod and carried unanimously.
Mayor McIntosh read a letter received from Dr. Clay criticizing the
Bicentennial painting on the Community Center building.
Mayor McIntosh also brought up the lack of sponsors on Country Club
bookings. He stated that the present booking sheet does not have a place for
three sponsors as it was generally understood to be required. Mr. Fann
suggested that the Council adopt a policy that would automatically approve
functions put on by established service organizations and other groups or
clubs who have a community relationship with Miami Shores. The Council
concurred in this advice.
Mr. Condit asked about the report from the Police Department on
the four-day work week which the Manager stated was just completed. Mr.
Condit also requested that the following two items be put on the next Council
agenda: (1) Proposal for an Assistant to the Village Manager, and (2) proposal
