Mayor McIntosh stated that the purpose of this meeting with the Country Club
Association was to discuss problems at the club and: stop rumors,
amalgamate forces and, get the job done.
In a statement made by Col. Hershey, General Chairman of the Country Club
Association, the following problems were listed: (1) heavy indebtedness, i. e.
5-acre land purchase, kitchen remodeling, irrigation system, (2) lack of
competent management, (3) club cannot generate enough funds to pay debts
and take care of current maintenance costs, and (4) additional revenue must
be generated from other sources.
The Association recommended:
(1) Hire a qualified club manager as soon as possible.
(2) Do not bring in outside members.to the club.
(3) Do not attempt to annex Quayside.
(4) Assume that problems of club should be solved by present
membership with Village officials.
(5) Make all members aware that the club cannot generate enough
funds for annual payments on kitchen and sprinkler system.
(6) Do not raise dues on a general basis.
(7) Keep dues at same level but establish golf course irrigation
fund and kitchen improvement fund, pro-rating cost on annual
memberships.
(8) Raise dues or charges on specific operations when they lose
money.
These recommendations were discussed and will be used in figuring the revenues
required for the new budget to be discussed on the following evening.
The meeting adjourned at 11:30 p.m.
