COUNCIL WORK SHOP MEETING
Tuesday, April 13, 1976
7:30 P.m. at the Village Hall
In attendance: Mayor McIntosh, Councilmen Davis, Claussen,
Condit and McLeod
Village Manager, Earl K. Andersen
Mayor McIntosh stated that this meeting was called for the purpose of
discussing a replacement for the Village Attorney (in view of resignation
of Richard Lund).
Qualifications of the person, pending and possible future litigation were
discussed. The Council agreed that the appointee should be a Village
resident.
The following names were submitted:
Bill Fann
Don Stobs
Al Quinton
Earl Barber
Rick Fournier
Through Balloting Mr. Fann won a majority for the appointment. The
Mayor and the Village Manager will interview Mr. Fann and Councilmen
Claussen, Davis and Condit will talk with him on Thursday.
Village Manager Andersen brought up the automobile inspection station
lease and asked if the Council wanted him to notify the County to vacate
the building at the end of September. Mr. Andersen will contact Mr. Greene
further to find out what the County plans are and if the Village can get any
remuneration for an extension of the lease.
Appointment to the Dade League of Cities will be made at the next Council
meeting.
In regard to a letter from FEC Railroad concerning maintenance of the 96th
Street crossing and two golf course crossings, it was decided to let the
Railroad do the work on the 96th St. crossing and the Village will do the paving
of the golf course crossings.
The Village Manager brought up the subject of accounts payables that are
presented to Council for approval after they have been paid. Mr. Andersen
suggested a finance committee to review invoices and statements or use of
a warrant system for listing. The Council agreed on a warrant system setup.
Gas franchise - necessity questioned.
The meeting adjourned at 9:05 p.m.
