This meeting was called pursuant to the proposal made by the Presbyterian
Church and Metro Traffic & Transportation Dept, on July 1, 1975 concern-
ing Park Drive. Action was delayed pending an opinion from the State
Commission on Ethics on the right of Council members voting on an issue
inuring to their church. Having received a favorable opinion from the
Commission on Ethics, the Council re-scheduled discussion of the proposal
at the request of the Presbyterian Church.
At the July 1st Council meeting a plan, approved by the Planning Board, was
presented which involved the closing or vacating of a portion of Park Drive
as recommended by the County Traffic & Transportation Dept. , and its
subsequent use by the Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Stanley Whitman was present at this meeting to represent the Church,
along with Mr. Eugene Simm, Director of Metro Traffic & Transportation,
and Mr. Miles Moss, also from Metro Traffic & Transportation.
A large map of the area was presented with an overlay of a building plan
of the Church, showing how the land will be developed if Park Drive is
closed between 95th and 96th Streets. This plan followed a previously
approved plan for the closing of Park Drive at 6th Ave.
Following discussion it was generally agreed by the Council that a public
hearing should be held before any action is taken. This was suggested for
January 20th at the Community Center. The date will be set at the Council
meeting of December 16th.
The meeting adjourned at 9:40 p.m.
