11-26-1975 Special Meeting SPECIAL MEETING
MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL
November Z6, 1975
A special meeting of the Miami Shores Village Council was called
for 5:30 p.m. , Wednesday, November 26, 1975, at the Village Hall, with the
following Councilmen present:
Mayor Donald W. McIntosh
W. Alfred Davis
Dean R. Claussen
James W. Condit
Jon E. McLeod
Also in attendance were Mr. David Peace, Village Manager, Mr. Richard
Lund, Village Attorney, and Mr. Morris Moranetz, Club Manager.
This meeting was called as an emergency meeting for the purpose of
discussing a function that was booked at the Country Club for Friday evening,
November 28, 1975, and publicized countywide by the promoter, causing serious
concern to the Villagers as well as jeopardizing the established use of the club.
Mayor McIntosh opened the meeting explaining what had occurred since
the ads for the "Singles Dance" had appeared in the Miami Herald and the Daily
News and he asked the Council to consider cancelling this function as well as
all other functions at the club on that evening.
After discussion and with advice from the Village Attorney, Mr. Davis
moved that the facilities of the Miami Shores Country Club be closed on Friday
evening, November 28th, from 6 p.m. to the normal opening hour of the following
day because of the unknown mumber of people that might attend and the con-
sequences that might result from an uncontrollable crowd, due to limited space
and manpower on the part of the Miami Shores Country Club and Miami Shores
Village, and further that the Village Manager and Chief of Police are instructed
11/26/75
-2-
to take whatever action is necessary to accomplish this. The motion was
seconded by Mayor McIntosh and passed unanimously.
The meeting adjourned at 6:10 p.m.
