AND PROPOSED BUDGET FOR 1974-75
MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL
September 23, 1974
The Miami Shores Village. Council held a public hearing on the proposed
millage increase, as required by F. S. Ch. 74-234, and the proposed budget, as
required by Charter, at the Miami Shores Country Club on September 23, 1974,
at 8:00 p,m. The following Councilmen were present:
Mayor James W. Condit
Raymond L. Clement
Elwood Jones
Absent: Dean R. Claussen
Harry F. Smenner, Jr.
The Village Manager, the Village Attorney, and all department heads
were present, as well as, approximately 76 Village citizens.
The meeting was opened with an invocation given by Councilman Jones.
The Mayor introduced the Council members present and the Village
employees. He then proceeded with the budget review and explained that the
Village budget was based on a millage rate of $8. 4.
Mr. Alfred Mikker, 10180 N. Miami Ave. , asked about the assessment
on the dog track.
Mr. Frank Holt, 94 N. E. 99th St. , asked Chief Fletcher how our Police
Dept. salaries rated with other departments in the County. The Chief stated
they had been 12th and with the proposed salaries would probably be 6th, depend-
ing how the other departments were raised.
On the Country Club budget the Council was asked to give serious con-
sideration to permitting membership dues to be paid quarterly instead of a
year in advance.
In the discussions that followed the presentation both Mr. Jones and
Mr. Clement expressed dissatsifaction with the budgets.
The meeting adjourned at 10:50 p.m.
