09-10-1974 Work Session COUNCIL WORK SESSION ON THE BUDGET - Country Club
Tuesday, September 10, 1974
7:00 p.m. at the Village Hall
In attendance: Mayor Condit, Councilmen Claussen, Jones, Clement
and Smenner
Village Attorney
Village Manager, Finance Director, Chief Fletcher,
Club Manager, representatives of the Chamber of
Commerce and several insterested citizens
Mr. Jerry Sims of Lybrand & Cooper was present to answer any questions
concerning the special audit report which had been completed on the
Country Club and delivered to the Councilmen that afternoon. The report
found no fault in the general areas of accounting and relationship of
revenue to expenditures. It concluded that the deficit operation would
continue unless more revenue is received or the club is subsidized by
the general funds of the Village.
Mr. McIntyre presented an increased dues schedule which was discussed.
It was suggested that the "Family Membership" be increased in some pro-
portion by the number of children using it. There was no general agreement
on this idea.
Mr. Smenner brought up the fact that there is no single membership for
pool and tennis and proposed that single memberships be established for
these facilities, using the same percentage as golf memberships.
In finalizing the proposed budget Mr. Clement moved that the music account
be reduced from $25, 000 to $15, 000, that the Maitre d. be eliminated and
that the dues schedule be lowered by $20, 000. The motion was seconded
by Mr. Jones and passed 3/2 with Mayor Condit and Councilman Smenner
dissenting.
In regard to the Auto Inspection station the Village Manager reported that
the County, through John Greene, had informed us that they will not be
ready to assume its operation under any conditions by October 1st. The
Village Manager was asked to make a report on the employees involved
at the next meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 8:45 p.m.
