03-26-1974 Special Workshop Meeting it SPECIAL WORKSHOP MEETING MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL March 26, 1974 A special workshop meeting of the Miami Shores Village Council was held at 7:30 p.m. , March 26, 1974, at the Country Club, with the follow- ing Councilmen present: Mayor James W. Condit Dean R. Claussen Raymond L. Clement Elwood Jones Absent: Harry F. Smenner, Jr. Others in attendance were: Mr. John W. McIntyre, Village Manager, Mr. John Ely, Club Manager, Dr. Laverne Burns, General Chairman of the Country Club Association, and Mr. John Ryan. Association meeting: The Village Manager reported that at the last meeting of the Country Club Association the majority of golfers present were opposed to the proposal of requiring carts on weekends. It was suggested that this be tabled until next season. Dr. Burns discussed cooperation from the Village in being allowed to set rules for large tournament days. The Mayor asked the Tournament Committee to write up a set rules for handling tournaments. In answer to Councilman Clement's criticism of the condition of the course the Mayor asked Dr. Burns to have the Greens Committee make a report on this for the Council. Councilman Jones brought up the ranger's responsibilities and authority, and it was agreed to publicize golf playing rules and disciplinary action that will be taken on violations. Fire inspection report: Concerning the Fire Department's inspection report on the Country Club, Mr. Claussen agreed to meet with the Manager and the Building Inspector to go over the list of modifications. Discussion of safe: The Village Manager stated he had talked with our insurance agents, Gordon Boulton and Duke Reynolds about this safe and they recommended putting it in a more accessible area for the bar. The Council agreed to take action on the purchase of the safe recommended by Mr. McIntyre at the next Council meeting. 3/26/74 -Z- Alarm system: The Village Manager reported that the A. D. T. and Marriott alarm companies have made proposals for installing a master system in the Police Dept. and in conjunction with this system proposals were made for the Country Club as follows: A. D. T. - $539. 00; Marriott - $156. 00 for two transmitters and one receiver. This will come up at the next Council meeting. Dry wall: Mr. Claussen stated he didn't know what they wanted in the way of a partition. It was agreed that a survey should be made as to where a partition should be added, type of material, movability, storage, etc. Report by Club Manager on food and bar costs. Mr. Ely discussed percentage food and liquor costs and asked that liquor prices be increased to show a 33% cost, and a 10� increase when there is music in the bar. Mr. Claussen thought this should be brought up at the next meeting. Mr. Claussen brought up the proposal of permitting long time golfers who have moved out of the Shores to maintain their club memberships. This is being studied by the Membership Committee.
