Mr. John W. McIntyre, Village Manager, Mr. James Glaid, Finance
Director, and Mr. John Ely, Club Manager, were also present.
The Club Manager discussed the income on food and liquor at the
Club as indicated in the last audit report, 1971-72, showing a loss on food
of $18, 000. 00 and a profit of $60, 000. 00 on liquor. Mr. Ely projected
$300, 000. 00 of food sales this year and stated he would like to get the food
costs at a percentage that will be best for the customers and best for the
club. Mr. Ely also stated that he would like to pay the waitresses a straight
hourly rate to equalize their pay. Mr. Ely also discussed a proposal for
setting up departmental responsibility for profit and loss.
The next item for discussion was the Medical Arts building. Attorney
Robert Korner and architect Ted Gottfried, were present with a revised Park-
side
ing plan for the building to be built on the west of N. E. 2nd Avenue between
96th and 97th Streets. Mr. Korner stated they now show 57, 650 sq. ft. of

area for each square foot of building, or within 23% of the required parking.
The plan shows 133 spaces or one space for each 430 sq. feet of gross building
area. On this basis Mr. Korner stated the plan can be financially workable.
It was pointed out that on the 9999 building only 40% of the required parking
was provided or a shortage of 60%. Mr. Korner was asked to keep the build-
ing at a 40 ft. level.
The Council agreed to call a special meeting for the following day,
Friday, to give these people an answer.
The Village Manager reported on a meeting with John Green of the
County Manager's office, Chief Bullock, County Fire Department, and a man
from the County budget office, regarding the proposed merger of our Fire
Department. Mr. McIntyre stated that the County had indicated they would
be willing to take our fire department and give us as good or better service,
that we would have to take a two year contract with the County at a dollar a
year, with other considerations for the personnel, housing, etc. to be presented
in a contract.
The Mayor stated that we (the Council) could take this up at a special
meeting on the following day, notifying the Journal, the Chamber of Commerce
and as many citizens as possible of the proposal.
The meeting adjourned at 5;30 p.m.
