09-25-1972 Public Hearing PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED BUDGET - 1972-73 MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL September 25, 1972 The Miami Shores Village Council held a public hearing at the Miami Shores Community Center on September 25, 1972, at 8:00 p. m. for the purpose of reviewing with the public the proposed budget for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 1972. The following Council members were present: Mayor Elwood Jones Raymond L. Clement ,Dean R. Claussen Mrs. Marjorie A. Dunn Howard J. McLaughlin Absent: None The Village Manager and department heads were present as well as approximately 140 Village citizens. The meeting was opened by a pledge of allegiance led by Mr. James Condit and an invocation given by Mr. Mike Khoury. The Mayor reviewed the estimated revenues and the proposed appropriations as listed for each department. Mr. Lucius Cushman made a plea for more money for police salaries. Mr. James Condit, Dr. J. E. Williams, Barbara Yacos and Harris Meador petitioned the Council for faster implementa- tion of the fire-rescue service. Mr. Herb Warren, on behalf of the tennis club, asked for consider- ation of two additional clay courts. Mr. Monty Atwater requested that evening meetings be recon- sidered.
