MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL
September 22, 1969
The Miami Shores Village Council held a public hearing at the Miami
Shores Country Club on September 22, 1969, at 8:00 p. m. , for the purpose of
reviewing with the public the proposed budget for the fiscal year beginning
October 1, 1969. The following Councilmen were present:
Mayor Don G. Nicholson
Raymond L. Clement
Edwin B. Cole
Elwood Jones
Absent: Dean R. Claussen
The meeting was opened with an invocation by Mayor Nicholson.
There were approximately 70 Villagers present.
Mayor Nicholson reviewed the estimated revenues and the expendi-
tures appropriated for each department listed in the budget and answered questions
concerning some of the items. Question was raised on why the Village hasn't
bought or paved the parking lots east of the alley between 97th and 98th Streets.
Questions were asked concerning a referendum on the proposed Recreation
Center and include garbage fees in the real estate tax for income tax purposes.
In regard to the Country Club budget, some committee members
felt they should have been consulted when the budget was being prepared. Discussion
took place on raising electric cart fees during the winter months only.
The meeting adjourned at 10:40 p. m.
