Block K is composed of 5800 sq. ft. entirely surrounded by streets and is located at N. E. 90th St. and Park 3/7/648 -2- Drive. After a review of the plan sketch with Mrs. Hanger, the prospective owner, Mr. Dixon moved that the Council approve the setback variances with final plans to be returned. Motion was seconded by Mr. Lund and passed unanimously. A bill was received from the Chamber of Commerce in the amount of $77. 43 being one-half the cost of the Christmas home decoration prizes. This expenditure was approved by motion made by Mr. Dixon, seconded by Mr. Lund and passed unanimously. The Village Manager made a proposal to change 692 street lights that are now burning 4000 and 2500 lumen lamps to 4500 lumen Mercury Vapor lamps including changing the fixtures on the Whiteway lights on Miami Avenue, 2nd Avenue, 96th Street, Grand Concourse and 12th Avenue, to 4500 lumen Mercury Vapor lamps with a prominade type lamp fixture. This would add $2643 to the current annual bill. With this additional expense there will still be money in the current budget to add a few lamps in the middle of the blocks for which we are still trying to get easements. The new fixtures would not be installed for at least six months because they have to be made especially for our Whiteway poles. Mr. McCall recommended that the Council approve this proposal. The Council wished to view the new type fixtures in operation and asked to be advised of where they can be seen. Concerning the proposal to increase the lumens on all overhead lights, Mr. Lund moved that we authorize the change to Mercury Vapor 4500 lumen lights. Motion was seconded by Mr. Dixon and passed unanimously. After a review of the current bills Mr. Clement moved that they be approved. 3/7/67 1,9 Mayor Claussen stated he had received a request from Kiwanis International that we set aside the week of March 5 through 11th as Teachers Association Week in support and appreciation of their work.
