09-23-1964 Special Meeting t�r SPECIAL MEETING MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL September 23, 1964 A special meeting of the Village Council was held on September 23, 1964, following the Equalization Board meeting, for the purpose of adopting the budget for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 1964. The following Councilmen were present: Mayor Ray L. Clement Elwood Jones Dean R. Claussen Dale Miller Absent: John F. Saxon The first item of business concerned the personnel of the auto inspection stations. The Village Manager recommended that we continue as is until we can do further study of this operation. Mr. Claussen then moved that we transfer some of the money from the Contingency back to the Inspection Stations and employ two new girls with the thought that we will continue to check this operation for improvement if we can find it. Motion was seconded by Mr. Miller and passed unanimously. In regard to the report of numerous burglaries, Mr. Claussen asked for a monthly report of break-ins and entries. The Village Manager read a proposed ordinance to adopt the budget and final tax roll and upon motion made by Mr. Miller, seconded by Mr. Jones, ORDINANCE NO. 318 was unanimously passed and adopted, same being entitled: AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE ANNUAL BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING OCT OBER 1, 1963; ADOPTING THE FINAL TAX ASSESSMENT ROLL AND FIXING THE 1964 TAX LEVY OF MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE. 9/23/64 -2- The next business was to confirm the gas contract for the Country Club. Mr. Jones moved that it be given to Public Gas Company, because they were the only company who bid on Vulcan equipment. Motion was seconded by Mr. Miller and passed unanimously. The agreement with Mr. Wes Dunaway to provide interior decoration of the patio room, breezeway and lobby of the Country Club was approved by motion made by Mr. Jones, seconded by Mr. Clement and passed unanimously. The Village Manager reported that the Federal government had proclaimed this area a disaster relief area and asked the Council to decide whether or not the Village should make a claim for hurricane clean-up expenses. After some discussion Mr. Claussen moved that the Council instruct the Village Manager to fill out the necessary forms to apply for hurricane relief from the Federal government. Motion was seconded by Mr. Miller and passed 3/1 with Mr. Clement strongly opposed to this action. Concerning the Village Manager's attendance at the International City Managers conference in Chicago, Mr. Claussen moved that it be approved. Motion was seconded by Mr. Jones and passed unanimously.
