REGULAR MEETING
MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL
April 2, 1963
A regular meeting of the Miami Shores Village Council was held
at 4:00 o'clock P.M. , April 2, 1963, at the Village Hall, with the following
Councilmen present:
Mayor Dale Miller (arrived late)
John F. Saxon
Dean R. Claussen
Spencer W. Rudnick
Joseph H. Walker
Absent: None
Mr. Thomas H. Anderson, Village Attorney, was also present.
In the absence of Mayor Miller at the opening of the meeting,
Councilman Walker was asked to take the chair.
Upon motion made by Mr. Rudnick, seconded by Mr. Saxon and
passed unanimously, the minutes of the last meeting were approved as written.
The first business was a discussion of the Metropolitan Charter
Review Board recommendations. Mr. Rudnick wanted to go on record as
being opposed to No. 1, raising the number of people required for petitions
to amend the charter which he stated removes the government further from
the people than it is now and makes it more difficult to initiate charter changes.
It was suggested by Mr. Walker that the new Mayor and Council should have
copies of these recommendations. Mr. Rudnick then moved that this matter
be brought before the new Council. Motion was seconded by Mr. Saxon and
passed unanimously.
A report was received from the Metropolitan Dade County Planning
Q

and Advisory Board concerning services to be rendered by the County and
those by the cities. Mr. Saxon moved that this matter be presented to the
new Council. Motion was seconded by Mr. Rudnick and passed unanimously.
It was also stipulated that copies be made for the new Council.
At this point the Mayor arrived at the meeting.
.After a review of the current bills, Mr. Saxon moved that they be
approved. Motion was seconded by Mr. Walker and passed unanimously.
The Village Manager reported that the Village Attorney has filed a
suit in the Country Club tax case. Mr. McCall also reported that an appeal
was filed by the plaintiffs in the Janis apartment suit.
Inasmuch as Mr. Walker's term on the Council is coming to an end
Mr. Saxon stated that he had enjoyed serving on the Council with Mr. Walker
who has decided not to run again, and Mr. Saxon also commended the Mayor
on the fine job he has done in conducting the meetings.
The meeting adjourned at 4:20 P.M.
