04-02-1963 Regular Meeting ^,2 REGULAR MEETING MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL April 2, 1963 A regular meeting of the Miami Shores Village Council was held at 4:00 o'clock P.M. , April 2, 1963, at the Village Hall, with the following Councilmen present: Mayor Dale Miller (arrived late) John F. Saxon Dean R. Claussen Spencer W. Rudnick Joseph H. Walker Absent: None Mr. Thomas H. Anderson, Village Attorney, was also present. In the absence of Mayor Miller at the opening of the meeting, Councilman Walker was asked to take the chair. Upon motion made by Mr. Rudnick, seconded by Mr. Saxon and passed unanimously, the minutes of the last meeting were approved as written. The first business was a discussion of the Metropolitan Charter Review Board recommendations. Mr. Rudnick wanted to go on record as being opposed to No. 1, raising the number of people required for petitions to amend the charter which he stated removes the government further from the people than it is now and makes it more difficult to initiate charter changes. It was suggested by Mr. Walker that the new Mayor and Council should have copies of these recommendations. Mr. Rudnick then moved that this matter be brought before the new Council. Motion was seconded by Mr. Saxon and passed unanimously. A report was received from the Metropolitan Dade County Planning Q� 4/2/63 and Advisory Board concerning services to be rendered by the County and those by the cities. Mr. Saxon moved that this matter be presented to the new Council. Motion was seconded by Mr. Rudnick and passed unanimously. It was also stipulated that copies be made for the new Council. At this point the Mayor arrived at the meeting. .After a review of the current bills, Mr. Saxon moved that they be approved. Motion was seconded by Mr. Walker and passed unanimously. The Village Manager reported that the Village Attorney has filed a suit in the Country Club tax case. Mr. McCall also reported that an appeal was filed by the plaintiffs in the Janis apartment suit. Inasmuch as Mr. Walker's term on the Council is coming to an end Mr. Saxon stated that he had enjoyed serving on the Council with Mr. Walker who has decided not to run again, and Mr. Saxon also commended the Mayor on the fine job he has done in conducting the meetings.
