03-19-1963 Regular Meeting REGULAR MEETING
MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL
March 19, 1963
A regular meeting of the Miami Shores Village Council was held
at 4:00 o1clock P.M. , March 19, 1963, at the Village Hall, with the follow-
ing Councilmen present:
Mayor Dale Miller, Jr.
John F. Saxon
Dean R. Claussen
Spencer W. Rudnick
Joseph H. Walker
Absent: None
Mr. Thomas H. Anderson, Village Attorney, was also present.
Upon motion made by Mr. Claussen, seconded by Mr. Rudnick
and passed unanimously the minutes of the last meeting were approved as
written.
Mr. James Jones was present for approval of a new plan for the
development of Lots 5, 6, and 7, Block 59, M.S. Sub. , the old Collins ware-
house. The proposed plan is to remove part of the present building to create
an "L" shaped building of approximately 27, 000 sq. ft. , with parking in the
front. The vacant area will provide 30 parking spaces, requiring a variance
of one parking space. Mr. Walker moved that since Mr. Jones has assured
the Council that the building to the south will be reduced to approximately
27, 000 sq. ft. plus offices for his own personal use, that the Council waive
the parking requirement from 31 spaces to 30 spaces to meet the plan sub-
mitted this date. Motion was seconded by Mr. Claussen and passed 4/1 with
Mr. Rudnick dissenting. Mr. Rudnick stated that he had voted "No", not on
the merits of the proposal because he might conceivably be in favor of the
3/19/63 'm'
-2-
plan, but because he stated to his knowledge the plans have not been sub-
mitted to the Planning Board prior to coming to the Council in accordance
with the procedure set up in the Zoning Ordinance, and that, in his opinion,
any action taken by the Council in a case such as this without prior action of
the Planning Board is not valid and has no legal force or effect.
The Village Manager reported that the Men's Golf Association at
the Club has petitioned the Council to establish a golf cart rental fee that will
be maintained year round and not raised during the five months of the winter
season. After some discussion of this plan, Mr. Claussen moved that approval
be given to begin summer rates on cart rentals on March 30th of this year
and that at budget time studies will be made to establish future cart rental
rates. Motion was seconded by Mr. Walker and passed unanimously.
The annual Florida City Managers' Short Course will be held this
year at Daytona Beach, April 28th to May 1st. Mr. Rudnick moved that the
Village Manager attend this course. Motion was seconded by Mr. Saxon
and passed unanimously.
The meeting adjourned at 4:50 P.M.
