04-19-1960 Regular Meeting fwjL REGULAR MEETING MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL April 19, 1960 A regular meeting of the Miami .Shores Village Council was held at 4:00 o'clock P. M. , April 19, 1960, at the Village Hall, with the following Councilmen present: Mayor Dean R. Claussen (arrived late) Michael J. Franco John F. Saxon Joseph H. Walker Absent: Spencer W. Rudnick Mr. Thomas H. Anderson, Village Attorney, was also present. Minutes of the last meeting were approved by motion made by Mr. Franco, seconded by Mr. Saxon and passed unanimously. In the absence of the Mayor, Mr. Walker acted as chairman. Mr. Blitch of the Miami Laundry appeared before the Council to appeal the Planning Board decision denying approval of one of their signs for the new pick-up station at 90th St. and N. E. 6th Ave. After some discussion., Mr. Franco moved that the Council override the action of the Planning Board and approve the signs in question. Motion was seconded by Mr. Saxon and passed unanimously. In the discussion of this particular location, a complaint was voiced about the new trucks and cars that are parked along 6th Ave. by Tropical Chevrolet. Mr. Saxon suggested that the Village plant some shrubs along the street to shield the view of the cars. A proposed ordinance was read amending Zone "O" of the Zoning Ordinance to broaden the permitted uses in this zone. Based on the 4/19/6 -2- recommendation of the Village Manager, Mr. Saxon moved that this ordinance be approved. Motion was seconded by Mr. Franco and ORDINANCE NO. 297 was unanimously passed and adopted, same being entitled: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING PARAGRAPH 2. OF PERMITTED USES IN ZONE "O" IN THE SCHEDULE OF REGULATIONS THAT IS A PART OF ARTICLE IV OF ORDINANCE NO. 270. The Village Manager reported on a complaint that had been. received concerning Mrs. Jean Thompson, 157 N. W. 92nd St. , using her home for taking care of children. Mr. McCall explained the background of this case and that after Mrs. Thompson had been informed that she would have to cease this operation, she had requested an extension until September lst to make other arrangements for the children and sell her house if necessary. After some discussion Mr. Saxon moved that Mrs. Thompson be granted an extension until September 1, 1960 to comply with our zoning. Motion was seconded by Mr. Franco and passed unanimously. Mr. Walker brought up a complaint about the Willits' children-working on cars in their front yard. Mr. McCall stated he'had already talked to Perry Willits about this problem. The Village Manager presented the Council with a copy of a tentative charter for the operation of the Country Club and asked them to study it for further discussion in the near future.
