MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL
January 19, 1960
A regular meeting of the Miami ,Shores Village Council was held
at 4:00 o'clock P. M. , January 19, 1960, at the Village Han, with the follow-
ing Councilmen present:
Mayor Dean R. Claus s en
Spencer W. Rudnick
John F. Saxon
Joseph H. Walker
Absent: Michael J. Franco
Mr. Thomas H. Anderson, Village Attorney, was also present.
Minutes of the last meeting were approved as written upon motion
made by Mr. Saxon., seconded by Mr. Rudnick and passed unanimously.
A petition was received requesting reduction in golf car rentals which
was signed by 142 golfers. Mr. Saxon wanted the Council to consider a year-
round fee for Village residents. Mr. Rudnick wanted to see the non-resident
dues raised. Mr. Walker thought perhaps there could be a resident and a
non-resident cart fee as well as raising the dues. Mr. Saxon moved that the
petition be denied and that the Village Manager be directed to make a study
of cart rentals to be presented at the next budget year. Motion was seconded
by Mr. Rudnick and passed unanimously.
The Village Manager explained the petition that had been received
from the residents on N. W. 2nd Place concerning trash pick up. Mr. Saxon
moved that the Council received this petition and directed the Village Manager
to work out a satisfactory solution. Motion was seconded by Mr. Rudnick
and passed unanimously.

Concerning the proposal to re-subdivide the Boulevard frontage in
Block 177, the Village Manager made a report based on Mr. Pomeroy's letter
on this subject and recommended its denial. Mr. Saxon then moved that the
proposal be denied based on Mr. Pomeroyls report and the recommendation
of the Village Manager. Motion was seconded by Mr. Walker andpassed unanimously.
Concerning the petition for one-way traffic on 103rd St. , the Council
directed that this be taken off the agenda and that the lawyer for these people
be advised that the Council has taken no action pending a report from the
County Traffic Director.
Mr. Walker asked the Council to consider the idea of gunning a
contest to interest architects in designing homes especially for the busy streets
of Miami Shores.
Mr. Walker also suggested that the zoning ordinance be re-studied with
a view to prohibiting professional offices in the home.
Mr. .Walker asked that the question of raising dues of non-resident
members of the Country Club be put on the agenda for the next meeting.
Mr. Walker recommended that Mr. Petrey z salary be reviewed.
Chief Senneff invited everyone present to attend. Miami Shores night
at the Dog Track next Monday, January 25th.
