REGULAR MEETING
MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL
February 3, 1959
A regular meeting of the Miami Shores Village Council was held
at 4:00 o'clock P.M. , February 3, 1959, at the Village Hall, with the
following Councilmen present:
Mayor Michael J. Franco
John F. Saxon
Dean R. Claussen
Spencer W. Rudnick
M. E. Reynolds
Absent: None
The Village Attorney was not present.
Minutes of the last regular meeting were approved by motion
made by Mr. Claussen, seconded by Mr. Reynolds and passed unanimously.
After a review of the current bills, Mr. Reynolds moved that they
be approved. Motion was seconded by Mr. Rudnick and passed unanimously.
It was requested that a policy be set on whether or not children
will be allowed to ride motor scooters and home-made automobiles on the
streets without license. Because of the complaints registered over the
noise nuisance and danger involved, Mr. Claussen moved that we instruct the
Chief of Police to enforce the traffic ordinance concerning the use of gasoline
vehicles on the streets. Motion was seconded by Mr. Reynolds and passed
unanimously.
Mr. Reynolds asked that additional lights be installed in the parking
lot at the south end of the Club House to stop the recent thefts. The Village
Manager reported that two more lights have been ordered. However, the

Council felt there should be a policeman on duty at large functions.
A complaint was' registered against the Chastain Construction Co.
over the prolonged nuisance and street deterioration caused by hauling fill
from the end of N. E. 105th Street. The Village Manager will check with
this company to find out when the hauling will be completed.
Concerning the traffic light at N. E. 2nd Ave. and 99th St. , the
Chief of Police reported that the Traffic Engineer has not completed the
survey.
Mr. S. D. Phillips was present to request a special appropriation
of $1, 000 for improvements at the Barry Field playground. The Village
Manager suggested going ahead with these improvements and taking the money
from the land improvement account which has a $5900 balance. Then if this
account needs more money a further request will be made.
The meeting adjourned at 4:35 P.M.
