11-05-1957 Regular Meeting 74 REGULAR MEETING MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL November 5, 1957 A regular meeting of the Miami Shores Village Council was held at 4:00 o'clock P. M. , November 5, 1957, at the Village Hall, with the following Councilmen present: Mayor Charles D. Bailey John F. Saxon Michael J. Franco Dean R. Claussen Spencer W. Rudnick Mr. Thomas H. Anderson, Village Attorney, was also present. Upon motion made by Mr. Claussen, seconded by Mr. Franco and passed, minutes of the last regular meeting were approved as written. The first business considered was a problem of trash collecting in a corner of the Bay, and the Council received a proposal prepared by Mr. T. K. Hodges, engineer, to erect a 700 ft. wooden barrier wall across and in front of the right angle corner of the Bay at approximately 100th Street. Mr. Jerome Hofmayer requested that the Council erect this wall at Village expense since the Village is spending about $100. 00 per month hauling trash and debris from this corner and that the wall would divert the trash and the monthly expense eliminated. Several neighbors spoke on the subject, some in favor and some opposed. Mr. Claussen moved that the Council take more time to consider and investigate such .i barrier and delay any action. The motion was seconded by Mr. Franco and carried 4 to 1 with Mr. Rudnick dissenting. Mr. Rudnick then moved that the Village employ an engineer to con- sult with Mr. Hodges to see if they can come up with some solution which will 75 11/5/57 -2- solve the problem. There was no second to this motion. The Council received a request from Center Pharmacy, 9723 N. E. 2nd Ave. , that a parking time limit be established at that address effective after 6 P.M. because of theatre patrons using all the parking spaces. The Council ordered that the Police Department survey this matter and that a report be submitted at the next meeting. The Council received a proposed ordinance changing truck route regulations from 20, 000 GVW to not to exceed a rated capacity of two tons, carrying state license plates GK and GL or CV. Mr. Claussen moved the adoption of ORDINANCE NO. 282. It was seconded by Mr. Franco and passed unanimously, same being entitled: AN ORDINANCE REGULATING TRUCK TRAFFIC ON STREETS IN MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE The Council authorized the Village Manager to advance $100. 00 to the employees Coca Cola fund to assist in purchasing a new machine, to be repaid before August '1, 1958. The Council authorized Messrs. Claussen, Anderson and McCall to attend the Florida League of Municipalities' meeting in Daytona, November 17 - 19th. Upon motion made by Mr. Claussen, seconded by Mr. Rudnick, ORDINANCE NO. 283 was unanimously adopted; it being an ordinance amending the zoning map to permit "O" use in Tracts B & C and lots 24 thru 28, Block 59, Miami Shores Sub. , and to permit "A-1" use in Block 20, El Portal Sec. #4. The Council authorized increasing the Police Department patrol 76 11/5/57 -3- by one man. The cost to be transferred from the Contingent Fund. After examining the list of current bills the Council unanimously approved them for payment. The Village Manager reported on the recent City Managers' Confer- ence in Washington, D. C. The Council ordered the proposed fingerprint ordinance stricken from the agenda. Mr. Franco moved that the Planning Board action be upheld, in recommending that the carport erected by Mr. Pnaife at 98 N. E. 103rd Street, without permit, be removed. The motion was seconded by Mr. Rudnick and unanimously passed. The meeting adjourned at 6:30 P. M. C Approved: Village Manage APPROVED: Mayor
