REGULAR MEETING
MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL
February 5, 1957
A regular meeting of the Miami Shores Village Council was held
at 4:00 o'clock P. M. , February 5, 1957, at the Village Hall, with the follow-
ing Councilmen present:
Mayor Dean R. Claussen
William E. Carpenter
M. E. Reynolds
Absent: Michael J. Franco
S. D. Phillips, Jr.
Mr. Thomas H. Anderson, Village Attorney, was also present.
At the beginning of the meeting there was not a quorum present
so the Mayor opened the floor to questions and answers concerning annexa-
tion, as there were about 30 property owners present from outside the Village
limits who were interested in the possibility of becoming incorporated into
Miami Shores. The Mayor explained the Village has no interest in annexing
any property but that any petitions for incorporation would be considered.
When the business meeting was opened, minutes of the last regular
meeting were approved by motion made by Mr. Carpenter, seconded by Mr.
Reynolds and passed unanimously.
The next item on the agenda was in regard to the minutes of the
Pension Board meeting. A discussion arose concerning the employees who
are 65 and over. Mr. Reynolds moved that we approve the payment of$20,718. 40
to the Trustee in accordance with the recommendation of the Board, subject to
possible adjustment at a future date in the event the two employees in question

passed unanimously.
Mr. Reynolds then moved that the Council approve the recommenda-
tion of the Pension Board with regard to the payment of Mr. Hirsh's fee in
the amount of $300. 00, with the money to be taken from the proper fund. Mr.
Carpenter seconded the motion and it was passed unanimously.
In attempting to determine costs of past and present service on
individual members, Mr. Carpenter requested that the actuary be instructed
to provide a copy of his computations. Mr. Carpenter then moved that we
recommend to the Pension Board that they acquire a set of actuarial figures.
The motion was seconded by Mr. Reynolds and passed.
After a review of the current bills, they were approved by motion
made by Mr. Reynolds, seconded by Mr. Carpenter and passed unanimously.
The meeting adjourned at 5:10 P.M.
