A regular meeting of the Miami Shores Village Council was held
at 4:00 o'clock P. M. , October 18, 1955, at the Village Hall, with the follow-
ing Councilmen present:
Mayor Dean R. Clausseu
Michael J. Franco
M. E. Reynolds
S. D. Phillips, Jr.
Absent: William E. Carpenter
Mr. Herbert Nadeau attended in the absence of Mr. Anderson,
Village Attorney.
Upon motion made by Mr. Phillips, seconded by Mr. Reynolds,
the minutes of the last regular meeting were unanimously approved as
written.
At the last Planning Board meeting, approval was recommended
for the issuance of a permit to build on a 50 ft. lot as follows: Lot 12,
Block 118, Miami Shores Subdivision, S. E. corner of 104th Street and 3rd
Avenue. Mr. Phillips moved that the Planning Board recommendation be
accepted. Motion was seconded by Mr. Franco and passed unanimously.
Planning Board recommendations concerning the proposed zoning
ordinance will be brought up for discussion prior to its final adoption.

the Planning Board members and presented to the Council. After a review
of the plans, Mr. Reynolds moved that the action of the Planning Board be
approved, subject to a hedge planting on that area fronting on 2nd Avenue
south of the building proper adjoining the parking area, and across the south-
west corner of the property adjoining the parking area, and on that area
facing 94th Street to the south end of the property and west of the automobile
parking entrance. Motion was seconded by Mr. Franco and passed unanimously.
A letter was read from the Village Attorney concerning the
licensing of transportation companies, in which he stated that the Village
does not have the right to collect a license fee. It was Mr. Reynolds' opinion
that we should then repeal the ordinance. The Village Manager also brought
up the question of licensing bus companies going to the Dog Track. Further
discussion was deferred until the ordinances can be checked.
A letter from the special Recreation Committee was read. The
Mayor recommended that the Village Manager thank the Committee for their
suggestions which were taken under consideration by the Council.
A letter was received from the Miami Shores Bay Park Estates
Club, asking for assistance from the Village in maintaining the parkway at
the junction of N. E. 101st and 102nd Streets. After discussion of how this
might be achieved, it was generally agreed by the Council that nothing should
be done until the adjoining land is built on and landscaped.
Mr. George Cannom of 5 N. W. 107th Street, was present to
discuss the plan recently publicized of making Miami Avenue a State road.
