REGULAR MEETING
MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL
August 2, 1955
A regular meeting of the Miami Shores Village Council was held
at 4:00 o'clock P. M. , August 2, 1955, at the Village Hall, with the following
Councilmen present:
Mayor Dean R. Claussen
Michael J. Franco
M. E. Reynolds
Absent: William E. Carpenter
S. D. Phillips, Jr.
Mr. Thomas H. Anderson, Village Attorney, was also present.
Mr. Franco moved the following minutes be approved as written -
the regular meeting of July 19, Public Hearing of July 26, Equalization Board
meetings of July 27 and 28, and a special meeting of July 28th. Motion was
seconded by Mr. Reynolds and passed unanimously.
The first business on the agenda was the opening of bids on supply-
ing gasoline to the Village for the year beginning August 15, 1955. The follow-
ing is a tabulation of the bids received:
Sinclair Refining Co. $. 0152 per gal. off tank wagon price
Orange State Oil Co. . 0188 per gal. it
Standard Oil Co. . 0181 per gal. " " if if
The Texas Co. . 0155 per gal. of " it plus
any special temporary allowance in effect.
Mr. Reynolds moved that the Village Manager be instructed to
compute the bids and award the contract to the lowest bidder. Motion was
seconded by Mr. Franco and passed unanimously.
After a review of the current bills, they were moved approved by

Mr. Franco, motion was seconded by Mr. Reynolds and passed unanimously.
Mr. Landy of 123 N. W. 109th St. , asked if curbing could be put in
around the center parkway on 109th St. , if money is 'not available for further
beautification and sprinkler system. Mr. McCall,reported that he proposed to
come before the Council with a plan to plant shrubbery in the parkway that
doesn't require too much watering, and to pave turn-arounds in the center of
the block so cars will not cross over.
The problem of parking lots was again discussed and it was the
Village Manager's opinion that a survey should be made on parking lots in the
Village, how much revenue they would bring in if metered, etc. The Council
instructed Mr. McCall to find out what a traffic survey of this type would cost.
Appointment of a new member to the Library Board was again
deferred pending the receipt of a recommendation from the Board.
Bids on the new ceiling for the terrace room at the Country Club
will not be taken until the air conditioning is in.
The meeting adjourned at 5:00 P. M.
