MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL
July 27 and 28, 1955
The Miami Shores Village Council, sitting as an Equalization Board,
met on the nights of July 27 and 28, 1955, at 7:30 P. M. , in the Village Hall,
with the following Councilmen present:
-Mayor Dean R. Claussen
Michael J. Franco
M. E. Reynolds
William E. Carpenter
S. D. Phillips, Jr.
Absent: None
No one appeared before the Board on the night of July 27th.
On July 28th, Mr. S. R. Pierce of 10728 N. W. 2nd Avenue, appeared
to protest the re-assessment of his home at an increase of from $6500 to $10, 989
this year. It was explained to Mr. Pierce that all the homes in Shoreland Heights
had been re-cubed this year to determine if they were correctly assessed and
since his home had an addition which was not previously shown, that was the
reason for the greater part of the increase. The re-cube of the house indicated
an assessed value of $7, 412 with a 12% depreciation. The addition was assessed
at $3, 577., making a total of $10, 989. However, the Council granted a 476 depre-
ciation on the addition, decreasing the total assessment on his house by $143,
or $10, 846.
As there was -no further business the Equalization Board dissolved
to re-convene for a special Council meeting to adopt the budget.
