Dunning stated that a misunderstanding had occurred in the consideration of his application for a Post Office and store building. It was the consensus of opinion that the Council not alter its action in the matter at the special meeting held on Monday, March 22, 46 1 47 3/25/54 -2- 1954. The Council approved the request of the Miami Junior Chamber of Commerce to hold a section of the Pan American Golf Tournament at the Country Club during the week of May 17th thru 22nd. C Village Manager and Clerk APPROVED: o Mayor 4B 1 March 25, 1954; r Memorandum to: Village Council From: Village Manager Attached hereto is copy of letter, from Mr. Dunning concerning his proposed building wherein he refers to plans submitted. Apparently Mr. Dunning left a sketch with me which I overlooked in subsequent discussions and which does call for a Post Office at the rear of the lot. Had Mr. Dunning gone through the regular channels of applying for a permit, I am sure the present confusion would not have arisen. Instead, he dropped by my office several times to discuss the matter and for some reason I cannot remember when he left the sketch. However, we found it on my table. Mr. Dunning requests re- consideration of the matter at the next regular meeting. Att. March 24, 1954 r1Z 0 Village of Miami Shores, Miami Shores, , Florida Attention: Mr. Lawton McCall, Village Mgr. Dear Mr. McCall: There has been some apparent misunderstanding between myself and the Village Council with reference to my application to build a building on the southwest corner of N. E. 99th St. and N. E. 2nd Avenue immediately adjacent to the Miami Shores Theatre Building. If you will refer to the plans submitted, you will find that my application was for a building covering the entire lot and the westerly thirty-eight feet thereof was to be utilized as a branch post-office to serve the Village. The rental agreed upon between myself and the post-office department was based upon only the portion of the building referred to and that portion to be adjacent to the alley and facing 99th St. only, and therefore, I shall appreciate the Council advising me as to whether or not this building may be built in accordance with the plans submitted and not as a portion of the building to be placed at their discretion. I think that they will realize the economic factor involved and will readily understand that it will be highly impractical to build a small building on the 2nd Avenue frontage. I shall greatly appreciate either receiving the approval or the disapproval of the plans submitted as stated above and deeply regret any misunder- standing in this matter. Thanking you and the members of the Council for your sincere consider- ation and advice, I am Very truly yours, K. M. DUNNING Page 49 - 50 (Destroyed by mistake)
