03-22-1954 Special Meeting 41• SPECIAL MEETING MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL March 22, 1954 A special meeting of the Miami Shores Village Council was held at 7:30 o'clock P.M. , March 22, 1954, at the Village Hall,, with the following Councilmen present: Mayor S. D. Phillips, Jr. M. E. Reynolds Michael J. Franco Dean R. Claussen Absent: William. E. Carpenter The Council took up the matter of the erection of a proposed building to be used as a Post Office on Lot 1, Block 17, Miami. Shores Section #1. After some discussion, Mr. Franco moved that pursuant to discussions held with members of the Planning Board concerning Mr. Dunning�s verbal application for a permit to erect a building on Lot 1, Block 17, Miami Shores Section #1, a permit be authorized to erect a Post Office building on said lot not to exceed a total floor space of 1800 sq. ft. , facing N. E. 2nd Avenue, provided that the entire remaining area of said lot be maintained exclusively as an automobile parking area as required by Ordinance No. 235. Be it further provided that final plans be submitted to and approved by the Planning Board before issuance of said permit. The motion was seconded by Mr. Reynolds and unanimously carried. Mr. Claussen.then left the meeting. The Council discussed a report of the Village Manager concern- ing the unusual working hours of the Police personnel. Whereupon Mr. Reynolds 42 1 1 43.: -Z- 3/ZZ/54 moved the authorization of three additional school patrolmen or patrolwomen because of the hardships on the personnel of the P=olice Department created by the unusual working hours required in protecting school children crossing streets. The motion,was seconded by Mr. Franco and unanimously carried. The Council discussed the charges for daily green fees at the Country Club and decided to keep the daily charge of $5. 00 until April 15th and authotized the sale of strip tickets at a rate of ten for $30. 00 to all regular daily fee players. The Council decided to continue its regular meetings at 4:00 P. M. on the first and third Tuesdays of each month but instructed the VillageManager to provide thein with more advance information on items to be acted upon at these meetings. Some discussion was held concerning the assessments on business and apartment properties in the Village and the Village Manager was instructed to get some prices on the cost of professional assistance in review- ing these assessments.
