07-30-1952 Equalization Board Meeting 135-A
EQUALIZATION B=OARD MEETING
MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL
July 30, 1952
The Miami Shores Village Council, sitting as an Equalization
Board, met on the night of July 30, 1952, at 7:30 P. M. , in the Village Hall,
with the following Councilmen present:
Mayor M. E. Reynolds
Michael J. Franco
William E. Carpenter
Absent: George A. Frix
S. D. Phillips, Jr.
Mr. H. W. MacDonald of 2685 Biscayne Blvd. appeared before
the Board in regard to his assessment on Lots 43, 1, 2, and 3, Block 23,
E1 Portal Subdivision. He contended that the assessment was too high on
Lots 43 and 1 and 2 in view of the fact that the lots were too shallow to allow
more than one building and in view of the fact that he had paid only $10, 000
for the entire piece of land which was assessed at $17, 380. The Council
took this under advisement.
Next was a letter from Mr. and Mrs. John J. Keane of 445 N. E.
93rd Street, Lots 16 and 17, Block 51, protesting the increase in taxes since
purchasing the property in March 1951. It was determined that in 1951 no
Homestead exemption was secured on this property and that this year with
the exemption, the taxes would be reduced considerably and Mr. and Mrs.
Keane were to be so notified.
The meeting adjourned at 9:00 P.M.
