REGULAR MEETING
MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL
July 15, 1952
A regular meeting of the Village Council of Miami Shores Village,
Florida, was held at 7.30 o'clock P. M. , July 15, 1952,, at the Village Hall,
with the following Councilmen present:
Mayor M. E. Reynolds
Michael J. Franco
William E. Carpenter
S. D. Phillips, Jr.
Absent: George A. Prix
Mr. Thomas H. Anderson,, Village Attorney, was also present.
Upon motion made by Mr. Franco, seconded by Mr. Carpenter and
unanimously passed, minutes of the last regular meeting were approved as
written.
The first business of the evening was opening sealed bids on the
purchase of three new trucks for the Wastes Department and one for the Parks
Department. Mayor Reynolds stated that the Council considered it advisable
to order these trucks now in view of the steel shortage, although they are a
part of the new budget and cannot be paid for until around December of this
year. The bids were as follows with varying interest rates and delivery dates:

Mr. Carpenter moved that we accept these bids and refer the
matter to the Village Manager and the Park Superintendent for study and
recommendation at the next special meeting to be held Thursday night. Miction
was seconded by Mr. Franca and passed unanimously.
The next business was in regard to a request for a permit to build
on a 55 ft. lot, Lot 15, Block. 121. This was recommended by the Planning
Board for approval. After discussion Mr. Franco moved that permit be granted
subject to the Village Manager contacting the adjoining property owner to
determine whether he is interested in purchasing the land in question. If not,
the Village Manager is authorized to issue a permit, providing it meets all
building requirements. Motion was seconded by Mr. Phillips and passed
unanimously.
After a review of the bills, Mr. Franco moved that they be approved.
Motion was seconded by Mr. Carpenter and passed unanimously.
Then the Village Manager stated that he was ready to make a

recommendation on the purchase of the trucks. Discussion followed in
regard to delivery dates and the amount of money budgeted for these trucks.
Mr. Carpenter then moved that we award the bid on the four trucks to Freeman
and Suns, the R,eo dekler. Motion was seconded by Mr. Franco and passed
unanimously.
The meeting adjourned at 8;35 P. M. to be followed by an informal
discussion on the budget.
