07-26-1951 Special Meeting 105 SPECIAL MEETING MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL July 26, 1951 The Miami Shores Village Council reconvened for a special meeting after the Equalization Board meeting on July 26, 1951, to complete the municipal appointments for the next fiscal year, as well as, to adopt the final budget and tax roll. The following members of the Council were present: Mr. George A. Frix Mr. Michael J. Franco Mr. William E. Carpenter Mr. S. D. Phillips, Jr. Absent: Mayor M. E. Reynolds Mr. Thomas H. Anderson, Village Attorney, was also present. The first business of the evening was the appointment of the Municipal judges for the next fiscal;year. After the reading of a proposed ordinance setting up length of terms of office, it was decided that the Village Attorney should rewrite this ordinance for further consideration. Mr. Car- penter then moved that we re-appoint James P. Reeder, George Bolles, Jr. and John Wahl, Jr. as Municipal Court Judge and Associate Judges respectively as their names appear for a term of one year each beginning August 1, 1951. The motion was seconded by Mr. Franco and passed unanimously. Next a proposed ordinance was read regarding Planning Board appointments and terms of office to be effective August 1, 1951. Upon motion made by Mr. Carpenter, seconded by Mr. Phillips, ORDINANCE NO. 220 was unanimously passed and adopted, same being entitled: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2. OF ORDIN- ANCE NO. 40 AND SECTION 2. OF ORDINANCE NO. 88 RELATING TO TERMS OF OFFICE OF PLANNING BOARD MEMBERS, 107 -2- 7/26/51 Concerning the Golf Course Advisory Board, Mr. Phillips moved we confirm appointment of the following board for one year beginning August 1, 1951: Mr. Perry E. Willits Mr. Walter G. Earnest Mr. Marshal G. Luce Mr. Charles B. Cleveland Mr. Robert M. Gormly Motion was seconded by Mr. Franco and passed unanimously. A proposed ordinance was read concerning the adoption of the budget and tax roll for 1951-52. After a change was made in the salary of the Village Manager, upon motion made by Mr. Franco, seconded by Mr. Phillips, ORDINANCE NO. 221 was unanimously passed and adopted, same being entitled: AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE ANNUAL BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING AUGUST 1, 1951; ADOPT- ING THE FINAL TAX ASSESSMENT ROLL AND FIXING THE 1951 TAX LEVY OF MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE. Some discussion was held concerning responsibility for establish- ing dues and fees at the Country Club. The Village Manager was instructed to write Mr. Anderson in regard to the ordinance covering this operation but no changes are to be made until the Council has had a joint meeting with the Advisory Board.
